The one I have is very old. The sounds are great, but the program is difficult to use. You can't just click on a sound, then insert it into the work you're creating. Maybe it's been updated, I don't know, but it needs to be easier to use. I'd buy a new one if it were.

    • Totally Useless , License restricts
The software dosen't run under current versions of windows or on 64 bit OS to spite the system requiments being listed as "Windows XP" or higher. Low quality, low resolution sounds. All the random , garbage hiss filled wave files are encrypted , and the CD copy protected , to the extent they are largly inaccessable for practical use. CD has to be in the computer to run. Required Setup installs NetZero trial subscription garbage on your computer. The Licence agreement directly contradicts some of the implied usages suggested on the product packaging which cliams it contains "royalty free" sound effects for usage purposes including webpages, broadcasts, and computer programs\mulimedia applications. I'm not sure what they would charge a royalty on anyway since they forbid usage and claim ownership over works containing their content in anycase where you would actually use any of the sounds as anything but office clip art or personal entertainment. The licence agreement actually forbids you from amoung other things, editing or making any derivtive works using the sounds , and forbids using them in pretty much anyway expect for personal entertainment , greeting cards, or for power point presentations/ business presentations. You may not use them in multimedia applications , Webpage authoring usage , usage in electronic format , prohibited or is made completely impractical by a list of restirctions, no comercial usage is permitted what so ever and there is even a clause that provides that all rights in any works containing the sound files vest exclusively in Cosmi or its licensors. Not exactly the "Ultimate royalty free sound effects library" they claim. ... show more

    • Low quality sounds, horrible program interface
I am very disappointed with this collection of sound clips. Most are short, of low quality, and contain a lot of hiss or other noise. Many of the sounds are not isolated, as if they were lifted from a TV show and you can hear other sounds in the background. Some are not really sound effects, just someone speaking gibberish. You can only export the sounds as WAV files, and you can only export them one at a time, which makes it extremely tedious to add these sound effects to your project or your own sound organizer, like iTunes. You must keep the CD in the computer to access the sounds, which again makes it cumbersome to use. The search and play interface is terrible and very amateurish, like it was written by a high-school student on a weekend. The only positive I can say is that it does contain a wide variety of sounds. ... show more
