  • Solid Wireless Headset
Color: Espresso Pattern: Headset
PRO: - Great wireless microphone, probably the best of any wireless headset (at least the SE version. I have the standard Virtuoso as well, and the mic is as clear as the SE but doesn't have the same "warmth" or low end.) - Build quality; both the standard Virtuoso and especially the SE feel premium, more so than pretty much any other headset out there. - Flexibility to work wireless, USB, or via a standard audio cable. You can use the audio cable to connect to an external DAC, rather than using the built-in DAC. I've tested this with an Astro Mixamp and it works well, although the mic works best via USB or wireless. - RGB is nicely implemented via Corsair iCUE software, and integrates seamlessly with other Corsair RGB devices. CON: - Ear pads. They are too thin, at least for me. Some reviewers have also complained about them. Well, just replace them lol. I've switched them with thicker ear pads made specifically for Virtuoso headsets, which are available here on Amazon for about $21. Not only are these thicker ear pads more comfortable because your ears don't rub against the inside of the ear cups, but they appreciably improve the bass since they provide a better seal. - Distortion/Crackling. So, I had an issue with the original Virtuoso (the black, and the original white one) where there would be brief periods of distortion or crackling when gaming or listening to tunes. After some troubleshooting I narrowed down the cause to it being mainly an interference issue. If your wireless router is within about 5 feet or so, you will probably experience at least some periods of distortion because the router usually transmits over 2.4GHz and the headset uses those same frequencies when transmitting to its USB dongle, so there can be some destructive interference. Just either physically move away from the router, or move it further away. I sit about 6 feet away from my router and don't have an issue. Also, your PC's own wireless adapter can interfere with the USB dongle because of the same issue. Note that most wireless headsets transmit over 2.4GHz so this a common problem. Some handle it better or worse than others, but if you're sitting right on top of your router its going to be an issue regardless. Some reviewers have mentioned that they sit close to the USB dongle. Again, its not going to matter if you're physically close to your wireless router because that will be causing destructive interference on the 2.4GHz band. Edit - Also, check out the accessory Virtuoso Noise Cancelling mic available (only) from Corsair's website. This works REALLY well and improves the mic quality even over the SE microphone, since neither that mic nor the standard mic have any noise cancelling at all. Corsair also sells an ST100 RGB headset stand that allows you to plug in the USB dongle, which brings it away from the back of your PC and closer to you for slightly better coverage. The stand also has a spare USB port for a mouse or phone charging etc. This is available on Amazon. ... show more

  • Not perfect, but close enough
Color: Gunmetal Pattern: Headset
I was a little bit hesitant about buying these after reading a few mixed reviews, but I'm glad that I did. This isn't a perfect product and I do have a couple small complaints, but at this price point I think it's the closest there is in a wireless headset. Pros: - They look amazing. I love this simple, classy aesthetic. This is one of the very few wireless gaming headsets that won't make you look like a nine year-old playing Transformers. I prefer the look with the Corsair logo LEDs turned off, but it looks pretty neat with them turned on as well. - The build quality is real. I got the SE and I love the aluminum frame and finish. It does make for a heavier and slightly less comfortable headset, but after a few weeks of use I feel it's worth the trade-off. - The sound quality is good. Probably not best-in-class, but it does sound good. I installed the iCue software and messed with the equalizer until I had levels where I liked them, and I'm happy with the result. - The mic quality is great. This one possibly is best-in-class if you're ignoring the ModMic Wireless. - Controls are simple and placed in intuitive spots. - Haven't yet had the battery run out in a day. - Good range. I can go anywhere in my apartment and generally keep a signal. Cons: - Definitely not the most comfortable. The fit is good, but they're pretty heavy. Every once in awhile I do notice it hurting on the top of my head after 30-45 minutes of use. It's only certain spots though, I can usually just adjust it a bit and continue on. Maybe I just have a lumpy head. - Despite the good range, the signal does cut out a bit every now and then. Not often or for long enough to be a major issue for me, but it hasn't been perfect. - The headset did crash on me once. I'm not sure what happened, but I couldn't get it to sync back up until I unplugged the USB receiver and plugged it back in. As long as this doesn't start happening more often, I'm not too bothered by it. Overall, I felt that the look, build, and microphone quality were more important to me than the comfort. But that will always come down to personal preference. My HyperX Cloud II's are infinitely more comfortable than these, but I've still come to prefer the Virtuoso for everyday use. If comfort is your top priority, probably give these ones a pass. Otherwise it's really a great headset. ... show more
