  • Side-Mounted connectors is a game changer!
The Corsair RM1000x Shift is one of the best power supplies I’ve worked with. The fully modular design and side-mounted connectors make cable management much easier, especially in the Corsair iCUE Link 3500X case. We installed this PSU in two gaming rigs, each with 10 fans total, including the 3 fans on the liquid cooler, and it’s handled the load effortlessly. I’ve been disappointed in the past when I purchased products from the same manufacturer expecting them to work well together, but not this time—everything just worked. What really sets it apart is the Shift side-panel modular layout. It gives you better cable routing options, especially with the PSU shroud making it tighter if not for the side-mounted connectors. No more wrestling with cables coming straight out of the back—this layout just makes sense. Overall, the RM1000x Shift is a great PSU for clean, high-performance builds. The modular flexibility and efficient power delivery make it well worth the investment for anyone building a PC. ... show more

  • Perfect so far with a couple unique features
I installed this unit on 10/22/24, so it has only been in use for a couple days. It has been perfect thus far, and I doubt that will change since Corsair make some of the best power supply units available. I think some of the features of this power supply worth considering includes: Cable connections on side of power supply - this makes the cables more accessible than the traditional location on the back of the power supply. This is probably more intended for a dual chamber PC case, but works fine in a 4000D. Miniature power supply connections - the connections on the power supply size are about half as large as the connections for motherboard, GPU, etc. I'm not sure what the purpose is for this besides making it easier to add/remove cables, but it is a cool feature. The only "con" if you would like to call it that is the lack of braided cables. Regardless, the supplied cables feel durable and are not too stiff. I like what I see so far and think this is a great option for 1000W power supplies. ... show more

  • Cable placement might hurt as much as it helps
The "Shift" part in this PSU's name refers to the ports being, well, shifted, to the side adjacent to the switch and AC port, rather than on the opposite side. In theory this should help with accessibility, particularly with compatible Corsair cases. However, in a Corsair 3500X case, I found this presented some problems. They're wonderfully easy to reach when the panel is removed, but the painfully stiff cables stick straight out toward the panel, which resulted in my needing to mash them down a bit. I'm not sure if, in the end, it's necessarily any more convenient than having them on the other side would have been. The cables also don't "click" into place in a very perceptible way that provides total confidence they're secure. On the technical front though it seems like it's been fine now that everything's squished into place. The modular cables do help to reduce crowding a bit, if you aren't going to need ALL the ports, and it seems like it's keeping everything powered just fine in a fairly demanding system with a 4080 Super GPU and a lot of glowy nonsense lighting it up. ... show more

  • Difficult to upgrade from older modular versions
This was to be a swap from a RX850 to RM1000... Plugs are not univeral/generic modular in comparison to my RX750 or RX850. I cant use the old plugs anymore and have to have versions unique to this new PSU. This means swapping the old out for the new means I have to rerun all the cables again due to their incompatibility with old models. Ugh. Also don't get a storage bag with the new PSU. Old versions came with a suede/plastic bag for holding disused cable with a velcro closure. ... show more
