Description

A true aviator; it is hard to find anyone that hasn't heard of Amelia Earhart. Setting many records in her short lifetime, 1897-1937/39, she gained fame and was known for her bravery and ambition. Flying her "Little Red Bus," this Lockheed 5B Vega, Earhart set two world records in her dependabe aircraft, among the many other records she collected. First, she became the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean on May 20-21, 1932 taking her about 15 hours to do the Transatlantic flight winning several awards for the treacherous feat, after Charles Lindbergh accomplished the same five years before. Second, only a couple months later, August 24-25, 1932 set the record for the the first solo nonstop US transcontinental flight by a woman from Los Angeles to Newark in 19 hours and 5 minutes for a total of 2,477 miles. With all of Amelia Earhart's accomplishments, the trip that made her a legend was the one that she was also lost at sea to never be found when she tried to be the first person to take the long route to circumnavigate the world as close the equator as possible. The longest flight considered at around 29,000 miles in a Lockheed Electra 10E, making it over 22,000 miles before all communication was lost outside of Howland Island where she was expected to refuel. Amelia Earhart helped clear the path for other women to find a career in dominantly male professions, inpiring many women and men alike to pursue aviation and convincing anyone with a dream it is always worth it to shoot for the stars.

  • Wanted to love this but cheaply built
Style: Amelia Earhart Lockheed 5B Vega
This plane looks cute but the second we tried to put it on the stand it broke. The stand broke, the the propeller broke off and the last thing to go was the wheels. Really disappointed as it was used for a showcase for a book report but then UT it back in the box. Expensive if you want to handle more than once. ... show more

  • The plane is not the size advertised.
Style: Amelia Earhart Lockheed 5B Vega
This plane is not 6 x 6 x 6 inches as stated in the product description. The size description was one of the reasons we decided to buy it. It's disappointing, especially when the delivery was 3 days late. Otherwise, it is a nice looking plane.

  • Garbage
Style: North American X-15
It’s about 2 inches long. Looks like a cheap toy. Stand does not fit. And you get all this for more than $20. Returned minutes after opening. Pure garbage from China yet again.

  • Just not that great.....
Style: North American X-15
Was hoping with both a Crogi and Smithsonian label, it would be a nice model. X-15 won't fit on supplied stand correctly and overall disappointed in size, detail, and quality. I would return but not worth the effort to prepare, pack and ship back.

  • A Little Piece of Junk
Style: North American X-15
This junk is smaller than my forefinger. It is now in the only logical storage for it, my trash can.

  • great product
Style: Amelia Earhart Lockheed 5B Vega
The airplane is really made well. However, please note that it is small. I was unaware of how small it would be but we are still able to use it for my daughters presentation on Amelia Earhart.
