Description

The Cordoba C9 Parlor is ideal for the player looking for the feel, comfort, and ease of playability that a smaller instrument provides, while retaining the sweet, warm tone created by all-solid wood construction. Built with a solid Canadian cedar top with solid mahogany back and sides, the C9 Parlor features a 7/8 body size, 50mm nut width, and the fan bracing pattern found on most Cordoba guitars. This bracing pattern gives the center of the soundboard more surface area to vibrate and respond to the tension of the strings. A more responsive soundboard makes the guitar louder, and provides better tone.Like every guitar in the Luthier series, the C9 Parlor is built with Spanish heel construction, where the top of the guitar is attached to the neck, the sides are added next, and the guitar’s body is sealed by the installation of the back. This construction technique allows the entire instrument to vibrate as one unified piece.Aesthetic touches like the mother-of-pearl weave rosette inspired by a 1920’s Domingo Esteso guitar add a touch of vintage elegance to this best-seller. Other premium features include a rosewood fingerboard, rosewood bridge, high gloss finish, and Savarez Cristal Corum strings. The C9 Parlor includes Cordoba’s lightweight polyfoam case. With the introduction of the C10 Parlor, Cordoba decided to rename the model previously titled “C9 Dolce” to “C9 Parlor.” We felt the word “Parlor” was a better, more universal descriptor of a small body instrument. No features of the guitar were changed aside from the name.

  • Great guitar for the money
Style: Cedar
The C9 is a great guitar for the money. Best to use high-tension strings in my opinion. Cordoba has a reputation for making excellent classical guitars that perform well but that are priced reasonably. If you want a louder guitar, then go to the C12. Had mine for about 5 years and still grab it and play it even though I've got the high-end Cordoba Hauser as well. ... show more

  • Nice Guitar
Style: Cedar
I'm very happy with this guitar. It arrived just a few days ago. I've been playing a long time but mostly steel string acoustics. This guitar is light and even with the Cristal Corum high tension strings feels very easy on the fingertips I suppose that's part of the allure of nylon. This guitar is beautiful. It shines like glass. The strings were already in tune right out of the case. It's a nice case, form fitting and also light but more protective than a gig bag. This guitar has been sounding better by the day as I acclimate to it. Artificial harmonics are easy to get on this instrument with these strings. Tunes by Sor and Tarrega sound better on this guitar than on acoustic. I would describe this guitar's sound as full, almost chorusy in nature as opposed to super clear. It's a matter of taste and I'm just going with it. You can do things to clarify the sound if you want but sometimes a big wall of sound is what you want. If you have Bridgett Memikides Compendium, the first two studies sound fantastic on this guitar as does the 3rd 'The Guiliani Allegro' which she plays at 100bpm. I play it at something like 55bpm. To me 100bpm shouldn't be humanly possible ! The action was set fairly low but the guitar comes with instructions on how to adjust the truss rod. I won't be doing that any time soon. The guitar should be kept in the case when not in use and at 45-55% humidity and 60-85 degrees Fahrenheit. I've set up a small room humidifier in the room the guitar is stored in to rectify the situation. I turn the humidifier off at night and close the case and the humidity is preserved overnight. I will not zip and unzip the case because eventually the zipper will fail that way. When I need to actually move the guitar I'll be assured of quality transport. I use high heat canola oil to revitalize the fret board and a little Murphy's oil soap solution for the painted waxed sections. Winters are hard on guitars with the low humidity's and fast temperature changes so don't expect your fine solid wood guitar to stay in perfect tune under those extreme conditions. This is a living piece of wood and will expand and contract accordingly. I keep a vibration head stock tuner handy and generally stop playing when the furnace comes on. Once the temperature stabilizes I re-tune and start again. The guitar doesn't fall out by much but by enough and spring will come soon enough and this will then be unnecessary. If anything changes I'll come back and amend but for now I'm living in a fool's paradise over this purchase. Thanks for reading ! ... show more

  • Great guitar, great seller!
Style: Crossover
I could not be happier with Instrument Pro, and their dedication to quality and customer service. There was a manufacturing issues with the guitar and they worked with Cordoba to get everything resolved. Truly a wonderful experience to work with them.

  • Diagonal crack on binding or purfling? On the fence with this one. But it’s beautiful
Style: Parlor
I just received my C9 Parlor guitar today and I’m pleasantly surprised with the quality of sound and aesthetics exceeding my expectations. It is more beautiful in person than photos. However, I’m concerned about a small diagonal line in the binding/purfling, that might be a crack which would compromise the integrity of the instrument. I’m still looking it over and inspecting it because I only have had a brief moment to simply inbox it and check it wasn’t delivered with major defects that are obvious to the eye. Looks good thus far, but will take it to be seen by a local luthier to be sure. I am on the fence on whether to keep this or buy a custom made Kremona Fiesta FC 7/8 size which would only be $100 or so more as I already spoke to them last week. I figured I’d give Cordoba Luthier series a try first. I like the deep mellow sound of the C9’s Mahogany back and sides but, I’m wondering if I should have opted for the C10 parlor with the Rosewood back and sides instead. (That’s what Kremona would do for me as well if I decide to order from them instead.) I don’t know how I feel about the treble sounds yet. Seems like they’re a bit plastic?? It does seem to have decent sustain. I have yet to check for buzzing and or dead notes. I will do that later tonight when I get back home. The seller did a decent job packing the guitar. The case is nice too. I will update more soon. ... show more

  • Beautiful Classical Guitar
Style: Parlor
I’m enjoying playing this classical guitar so much. It was a difficult choice on deciding what guitar would be best for me. After years and years of buying guitars I realized I had never really purchased a really nice classical guitar which is my favorite. I’m so happy I chose this smaller size. It’s more comfortable to play and it sounds sweet. At the price point I originally was going to go with the top sounding but realize playability is also a top factor. Happy happy! I would not have spent time on reviewing otherwise. ... show more

  • Great student guitar
Style: Cedar
Let me start by saying this is a really great guitar if your a classical guitar students it is probably has the best sound for the price I had this guitar for 6 months. I recently replaced this guitar for a 2000 dollar made in Spain concert Alhambra guitar and to be honest. The c9 isnt that far behind there is one thing that I've liked about all cordoba guitar and that is the sustain. Even the guitar I have now doesn't compare to the sustain on my c9. The only reason I didn't give this guitar 5 stars was for these two reasons. 1 this guitar lacks balance but really that's any guitar at this price range. On a side note all cordoba guitar balance gets better the higher in price and the c9 is probably the best it's going to get in balance but it still lacks the kind of balance you get from guitars that are thousands of dollars more. 2 this guitar lacks low end doesn't much bass but still sounds great. In terms of the way it looks it is very well crafted beutifull with really even grain very evenly tight thins guitar is beutifull the finish on it keep is looking shiny and like new with a good polish. The only ugly thing about it is the rosette it looks cheap and of bad taste since its some holographic sticker they should of just put a regular rossette like the one on the c5 that looks tons better. So in concussion this guitar is great if your a student or a serious amateur. Can hold you up until you save 3000 for a concert guitar guitars of that range are the only ones that r a good upgrade from this. Oh sorry for all the typos wrote this on a touch screen ... show more
