First and foremost: My DeWalt batteries fit this tool and it works. It has a light on the front which is nice. The power button is on/off instead of hold for power, which is convenient for this tool. The three power levels all work as well. The collet nut is a large sturdy nut and comes with a wrench. The depth gauge has a large thumb screw and is easy to adjust. Despite not being name brand I'm impressed with the build quality. I'm currently remodeling my home, which included a full electrical rewire and new drywall. I was previously using a wired Dremel to do cutouts, but the cord and the inadequate RPM(10k max) made using it difficult and was creating more problems than necessary. After doing some research and seeing the industry standard for cutout tools is 30k rpm I ordered this tool see if it would solve some of the issues I was experiencing with the dremel, which it thankfully did. This cutout tool produces much better results which I feel is a combination of both the increased RPM and being cordless, which makes it a lot easier to handle. I have not tested this on plywood or other sheet material, only drywall so I can't speak to those materials. Additionally, the drill bits that come with this kit are not the special drywall drill bits that prevent cutting through your outlet box, so be sure to order a pack of those if you're doing drywall with this tool. ... show more

    • 3 speed only, just right for drywall
Color: For Milwaukee 18v Battery
Don't know how versatile this would be for anything but drywall, with only 3 speed to choose from, but for drywall, this should be great. The power button is located conveniently but to change speed is going to take 2 hands as well as taking your eyes off your work, as the button to change speeds is located at the bottom of the tool. So you have to hold the running tool with one hand, while you need to visually acquire the really small button you need to press to change speeds at the base of the tool. The button continuously cycles lo-med-hi with each button press. Unfortunately, the speed setting is not remembered if you wait more than a few seconds after you power off - it defaults back to high. When you power off a few lights stay on on the unit for a few seconds and during that time frame, the unit will remember the speed setting. After those lights go out, the tool has forgotten. This unit comes with a chuck wrench, a different sized collet, and 2 generic bits. Neither of the bits I would consider to be drywall bits as normally drywall bits have a smooth tip to the bit so they don't do any damage to wiring or anything else when doing a plunge cut in drywall. These bits have cutting flutes all the way down to the end. All in all a very light weight and versatile drywall cutter. Recommended. ... show more

I like the 3 speeds, the light, and the fact that it comes with both 1/8" and 1/4" collets. I have used my small Dremel tool in the past to cut drywall, but the bearing couldn't handle the side loading and it made the Dremel tool have a permanent vibration after using it like that. I hope the bearing on this tool is more robust and it will last longer. ... show more

PROS: Feels, looks, and operates almost like the 3 speed OEM version, and accepts all your OEM and knock off batteries just fine, nice ergonomic grip and good heft and control, decent clutch with good bit locking, includes a long enough wrench. CONS: Adjustable front depth gauge is crocked from center and not quite industrial quality, spiral bits work for while, but again, not high temp high quality carbide...Overall a good value for occasional cutting out of electrical or other sheetrock holes and works fast and easy on other softer materials warranting cordless cut out tasks. ... show more
