Used the medium size on a recent trip to transport frozen food to Reno and it kept the food frozen for over 24 hours. The "blocks" on the inside of the cooler were also frozen solid after 24 hours. I used a total of 8 blocks in a 38 gallon cooler on wheels. (You know the blue one with the white handle.) It was simple to add the water and mix the powdered gel though you have to be sure to work the powder out of the bottom corners. The hardest part was squeezing all the air out to put the plug in. I made two blocks at a time then froze them starting several days before the trip. Don't wait til the last minute. I'm calling them blocks but they are rather flat-ish and heavy. Next time I would use at least a couple of the small size to line the bottom of the cooler. I put some folded newspaper at the bottom for added insulation. Will buy again. ... show more

We have had cooler shocks for 4 years now. We have the medium and the large size. We use them, along with a bag of ice, in our insulated cooler to transport frozen and refridgerator items in the back of our truck when we go camping. It keeps the frozen foods, which I put in the bottom, frozen for about 2-3 days depending on how hot it is outside, which gives our refridgerator time in our travel trailer to get cold. All the refridgerator items stay cold too! They are so worth having! We are getting ready to purchase some more of the medium sized ones since the 2 large ones are looking rather worn. We use these when we travel and after 3 days on the road our cooler is still very cold inside. You have to be careful because they will freeze your items if you are not careful. We brought fresh fish home and after two days the fresh fish was frozen when we arrived home. I have learned not to put them right up against items I don’t want to freeze. They work way better than ice and are great for long trips where items will be in a cooler for days ... show more

These ice packs are the best. They keep stuff cold for so long. I have found that if your product is already cold these will keep your stuff cold (in a rtic cooler or similar) for Atleast 36 hours. If you are trying to cool down your product then they only last for maybe 12-16 hours in my experience. The product will stay cold for longer than those times but I am referring to when the shocks aren’t cool to the touch anymore. I tried one in my mini cooler on a hot 95degree day. We were out for 4 hours and it did work great Only thing I didn’t like is the funnel they give you broke in one use so I couldn’t use it for the other 3

I bought the large 4 pack and the lunch 5 pack. I put every single one inside my large 100qt cooler. I lined the cooler with them and then put my drinks for a weekend camping trip in there. Then I topped it with two bags of ice. Half of my drinks were already cold from the fridge. It was a 2 hour drive to where we were going camping and by the time we got there, every single one of the ice packs, including the large ones, were completely thawed. Cold, but thawed already. I have been using the lunch ones in my kids lunch boxes and when they get home they are completely thawed. Still cool, though not cold. I bought their lunch boxes from Sams and they came with a freezer pack. The freezer pack the lunch boxes came with still have a large frozen chunk in the middle when they get home. Not these cooler shock ones though. My AC went out and it’s been 80 in my house all night. I grabbed two of the large freezer packs to lay on my bed at my feet and my side. When I woke up roughly 8 hours later they were completely thawed and not cold. I thought with the amount of money I spent that they would be better than that.
