Description

The 7th installment in the New York Times best-selling A TWISTED TALE series asks: What if Anna and Elsa never knew each other? As the future Queen of Arendelle, Princess Elsa’s life is full of expectation and responsibility―not to mention, questions. What type of ruler will she be? When will she have to pick a suitor? And why has she always harbored the feeling that some critical piece of herself is missing? Following the unexpected death of her parents, Elsa is forced to answer those questions sooner than she’d hoped, becoming the sole ruler of her kingdom and growing lonelier than ever. But when mysterious powers begin to reveal themselves, Elsa starts to remember fragments of her childhood that seem to have been erased―pieces that include a very familiar- looking girl. Determined to fill the void she has always felt, Elsa must take a harrowing journey across her icy kingdom to undo a terrible curse . . . and find the missing Princess of Arendelle. • Made me enjoy the story of Frozen!
5 out of 5 stars for making me love Frozen! This was the 3rd book in the Twisted Tale that I've read, and I love it just as much as the others in the series. I will admit that Frozen isn't one of my favorites in the Disney archive, I thought that this one brought an interesting and beautiful twist to the story that we all know and love. Elsa, has become the Queen of her country and is just as alone, until one day, she finds the existence of the a girl named Anna and is determined to find out who she is. Anna, is the daughter of a baker in the village, who knows nothing of her true past until the King and Queen pass and she thrust into finding out her past, no matter the cost. The story was very well written, as most of the stories are in the Twisted series. I found myself enjoying this version of Frozen even more than the movie. I even found myself enjoying Kristoff and agreeing that he and Anna are truly meant to be. (I am a firm believer in that Hans is better, but that's got nothing to do with this review) In typical Disney fashion, the story is full of twists and turns and will keep you on the edge of your seat, what you thought you knew, you really didn't. And you find yourself hoping that it will still be an act of True Love that will thaw a frozen heart and bring happiness to Arendelle. ... show more

  • So fun!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️5 Stars What if Anna and Elsa never met? This was a fun twist on a story I know well. I loved the snippets that included phrases used in the movie. It made it truly feel like this could have been how the movie went if just this one thing was different. That other parts still needed to happen. Things I love: ❄️That Anna didn’t fall for Hans ❄️Olaf ❄️That Elsa had a shot at love - even if it was Hans #booksiveread2023 #jencalonita #concealdontfeel ... show more

I ordered this for my 9 year old daughter who loves to read. After glancing at the first page I suddenly found myself 5 chapters in. Can't wait to read more of these!

  • A fun and interesting retelling
How would the story of Frozen change is Elsa and Anna no longer knew each other? An interesting idea, since this could potentially change Han’s love interests in pursuit of the crown, the reveal of Elsa’s powers, and much more. I enjoy these twisted tales! It’s so interesting to see which question is asked (here if Elsa and Anna no longer knew each other) and thereby, which question is deemed most important to the overall original Disney story. The author stayed true to the story while also adding many interesting twists that could occur in this twisted Frozen world. I especially liked seeing Olaf in a different type of environment and “growing up” in a different type of situation. The only thing that gets a bit tedious in this retelling, is the moments when dialog and actions are exactly the same as in the movie. Sometimes it is interesting to see areas where the author sees a potential overlap (ie, where the same things would happen no matter what). But, sometimes these areas are too long, and I find myself wanting to skip ahead to when the story will be new again. All in all though, this is a very interesting retelling and definitely worth a read if you are a fan of Frozen. ... show more

  • Not What I Expected
I downloaded this book when it was offered for free, and I've been curious about The Twisted Tale series for a long time. Conceal, Don't Feel was the first book from this series that I'd read. I'm curious if this is a good representation of the rest of the series or not. Conceal, Don't Feel gives us the twist that Elsa and Anna grew up not knowing they had a sister. Going into the book, I was interested to see how that twist was put into action. The beginning of the book was slow, but the curiosity about the twist and how it played out was enough to keep me going. Throughout the story, we're introduced to characters that we've already met in the movie, but it surprised me how much of the story felt like it was pulled from the movie, just with slight changes to the circumstances. I was expecting more of an original plot to the story with the twist, having come into this series with very little knowledge about the books. The book was an enjoyable read, but it wasn't groundbreaking for me. ... show more

  • The retelling I didn't know I needed.
In this retelling of Frozen, Elsa and Anna never knew each other. As far as Elsa knew, her mother was unable to conceive another child, and so Elsa was the sole heir of Arendelle. Because of this, after her parents died, it was up to Elsa take over her duties as Queen and to produce an heir. Little did Elsa know, she has a sister name Anna who was living in a village outside of Arendelle. As far as Anna knew, her birth parents never wanted her, and so she was adopted. Little did Anna know, she is actually a Princess. This book has the reader asking: Who is Anna? Is she really the lost Princess of Arendelle? Why did Iduna lie about not being able to conceive after Elsa was born? Why wouldn't the two sisters remember each other? Will they ever remember each other? In this book we see a vastly different side to both Anna, and Elsa. We also see an entirely different life for Anna in this book. This book is much darker than what we're traditionally used to seeing in Disney movies, and it isn't afraid to go to dark places, which I love. If you're a fan of darker retellings, then this is the book for you. ... show more
