It gets Hot enough. Nice curl. Many of the reviewers don't care for the claw clips. I liked them. They worked well for me. No indenting. I do wish they had some kind of holder/case. I just used an old cosmetic bag to store them in. I have shoulder length, a decent amount of hair. But stick straight baby fine and hard to curl hair.. I use a bit of hairspray after their up in the rollers. Then let cool completely. If you used hot roller back in the day, and were thinking maybe I should try them again? I would say yes. It will not be the same type of curl you get with an Iron though. It is faster and great for quick everyday look. ... show more

I like these hot rollers. My sister told me about them. Mine get hot pretty quick. In that case I unplugged them wait a few minutes then use them. They don’t curl but make pretty waves and volume. I used them since I bought them. Worth the money.

    • Cheap Cover
I love the hairsetter & have bought 2 of these because the cover broke off the 2nd time I used it. I just bumped it & the left half broke right off! A few years later I bought another one just like it & on my 3rd use the dang cover on the left broke right off again! This cover is so cheaply made where it hooks to the unit. It's a pain trying to set it back on. Hence is why I gave it 3 stars. If the cover was made well I would of gave this 5 stars. Anyone else had this issue? ... show more

My hair is thick and frizzy BUT smooth and manageable after setting in electric rollers. Soft felt on rollers, no tangling or splitting of my hair. Heat is effective and not too hot or damaging. So I plugged in these beauties and I waited, and waited, and waited. After 45 minutes the red light was still on; it never turned to white. I unplugged them and let them cool down. After the cool down, I heated them up again for 10 minutes and tried to put them in my hair, using the set of metal clips that I was sure would work better than the plastic ones I've read about. The metal clips worked fine on the top and back of my head, but didn't work on the sides. So I used the purple plastic clips that came with them on the sides with my hair sort of hang gliding in clips that don't stay where they are put. However, even after a complete cool down and a 10 minutes re-heat, they were...hmm, let me think, oh...TOO HOT!! The edges which you are supposed to hold, were pretty hot after only ten minutes of heat. When I took them out I didn't dare put a comb in my hair but just fluffed and there is some minimal curl but mostly a bad beachy mess. I think if I leave them on for 15 minutes and then try to do my hair, they could work. I think it depends on how much of a burn I can take from the edges, which are not supposed to be hot. I'll give them another try; maybe I'll get better at it and update this review. But, ultimately they will probably be going back. ... show more

    • Exactly as remembered
I used to use hot rollers years and years ago. My old set had gotten nasty after 10+ years of regular use. They got tossed during a move and when I tried to get new ones, no one carried them anymore. Fast forward to an Amazon search a couple of days ago.... Perfect, exactly as remembered!! Except for the clips. After reading reviews, I ordered some of those wire ones but they haven't arrived yet. To be honest, the pinch clips weren't as bad as I was expecting, but I do think the older wire ones worked better. What I like: Put the rollers in and go about the rest of morning prep for the day with them in place. My hair is a bit resistant to curling, and being able to leave these in until they cool creates big soft curls while eliminating the need for super high heat to get the same results with a curling vs flat iron. The curls tend to last a couple of days, with only a little bed head touch-up required on day 2. Happy to be able to use these again. Seller delivered quickly and in new condition. It was a little surprising that they came with no other box or wrapping, but it was all intact. One less Amazon box to recycle I guess. Would definitely buy again. ... show more
