  • Great!
This product is great for studying for the CompTIA A+. I was expecting, like most textbooks, to be dry and a pain to read, but thus far, I have completed 3 chapters and it was a breeze. The writing style makes the information much more palatable. I never thought I'd enjoy learning this material as much as I have so far. The way the author approaches the content is unique (I'm comparing this against other textbooks I've read) and is, in no way, wordy, dry, nor is it a struggle to stay focused. While the book is well over 1000 pages, it doesn't feel like a challenge to read due to the way it is written. I am being well informed while also enjoying the content and the author's way of making something "dull' a little more fun and inviting. If anyone asked me what book to purchase about CompTIA A+ material, I would hands down tell them to purchase this one. 3 Chapters in and I couldn't wait any longer to write a review. This book has motivated me, given me hope, and is, thus far, giving me a reason to continue studying material for a future I never thought would be close to reality. If you're having second thoughts, don't. Just purchase the book and start reading. Grab those index cards, make notes, keep studying, and get your future on track with the help of 'CompTIA A+ Certification All-in-One Exam Guide, Tenth Edition (Exams 220-1001 & 220-1002)'. You will not be disappointed. ... show more

  • Great book and worth having around...
Okay, if you're into reading this type of stuff, meaning Comptia study guides and the like, I suppose the most important thing I can say about this book is that it is still relevant and important even though the 11th edition has been released. You see, the 10th edition was written by Mike Meyers, who is a big name in these types of guides. The 10th edition is also the LAST that was written by him. The 11th edition was written by a different author, with Mike Meyers being in the role of Senior Editor. Some folks seem to like Mike's writing style better. Ergo: The writing style is going to be different. There is newer information, but many people still fall back on Mike Meyers for a certain level of trust. Used copies of this book are typically under $10, so there is no reason not to have it nearby. As for myself, I'm studying for the test so I'm reading the previous edition first since I got a used copy dirt cheap. I'll read the newer edition next while I do the practice exams and other prep work. Anyway, great book. Good to keep around. ... show more

  • Great study resource!
This book is definitely a must-buy for anyone who is a beginner to the A+ material like I was. I read each page cover to cover, so I can tell you that Mike does a great job of explaining the material. As many other commenters have noted, there is definitely more fluff in this book than other textbooks covering A+ material; however, since I was new to most of this stuff, I really appreciated the extra explanations and descriptions that the author included. I read this book to give myself a foundation on the A+ concepts before moving to Professor Messer and watching/taking notes on his videos. In my opinion, reading this book first really helped me in learning about the different concepts and getting a better grasp on everything. As anyone who knows anything about the CompTIA exams will tell you, it's very important to use multiple resources in your study time to prepare for the exams. I highly recommend Mike's book, and I plan on buying his other books to study for Network+ and Security+. *For anyone who might find this helpful, my study plan consisted of reading this book, watching/taking notes on Messer's videos, taking ExamCram practice tests, and finally Professor Messer's practice tests. ... show more

  • Great study book
I can't believe how much he packed into this book. I've learned so much. Very easy to follow and understand. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that would like to learn more about computers. I haven't taken the test yet but I do think this is a great tool to use.

  • Great Information, Poor Quality
The book itself is a great resource to study with as it goes into great detail about the required objectives for the exam. However, I found the bookbinding of poor quality and began falling apart. I would expect better quality for a book like this. Maybe I just got a book that did not go through any type of quality control. ... show more

  • A good solid book for this material.
I honestly don't think everything on the test was in this book, so that's something to take into consideration. It's well-written and chock full of information. Might be missing 5% of the test inside, but all in all a good purchase. Best if supplemented with other things.

  • All you need to know and then some
To start, if I could give this 4.5 stars I would, only because some of the material regarding the format of the A+ exams have changed. There is also quite a bit of fluff but it is valuable fluff even if you're only messing around with a home set-up. Other than that, I paired this book with Mike Meyers's Udemy videos for the A+ exams as well as some random practice tests I found via Google and passed both of my A+ exams. For reference it has been almost 15 years since I considered IT as a career path and A LOT has changed in that time period and Mike was able to prepare me in a way I did not think possible. I do not currently hold a job in the IT field but after nearly 2 months of studying I passed the 1001 and 1002 with flying colors. Oftentimes I see books like this and online free or incredibly cheap courses as a scam, but the cost of the book plus the $30 for Udemy courses beat the heck out of the $32k a technical school wanted to charge me for a 2 year course and a voucher to take the A+ exams. This is an easy recommendation for anyone who wants to pursue a career in IT or anyone who just wants to better understand modern computers, networks, and IoT. ... show more
