As many reviews have said, these ARE small. I normally wear an 8/8.5 men's (wide, where possible). So with me being kind of in-between sizes I thought maybe them running small wouldn't be an issue. I was ALMOST right. Got the 8.5 Wides and they were very comfortable and I didn't even notice they were just a little too tight, until a few days in to trying them on. Ended up getting the 9 Wide's and they fit great! These might be the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. This is my second pair of these Columbia waterproof shoes. Now when they say waterproof, don't expect to be able to go scuba diving or creek walking in them. Your feet will get wet. I originally bought these to keep my feet dry when playing disc golf in the early summer mornings when the dew is still heavy on the grass. They do a great job of keeping my feet dry when walking through wet grass. They also surpised me with how dry my feet stay while using a prrssure washer. Pants and shoes all wet. Feet are still dry and comfy. Will end up buying a third pair as I use them as every day footwear and I go through a pair in about 6-8 months. ... show more

To start with I have size 14 feet and have a wide foot. I purchased the 14 wide shoe and was sent the correct item, though when trying them on they are super tight, even on the toe box. I dread to feel what the 14 regulars feel like! I d Had to double check the labels to make sure I was sent the correct show, but I discovered they are in fact 14 wide. They certainly don't feel wide. I have another pair of columbia walking boots and they are great feeling walking shoes, and at a 14 wide they felt perfect, which is why I purchased these too. Not just that, the price was crazy low at a sale of $24!! Though the price honestly doesn't matter as they are unwearable for me and would destroy my feet if I attempted a longer than 10 minute walk, let alone a hike on rough terrain for an hour or 2!! I genuinely would have no feet left by the end of it. I'm exaggerating of course, but that is the difference between the description and the physical fit for me. Pros. From what I felt the pros are that they are soft on the heel and toes, have adequate arch support, feel lightweight and grippy, and have a good mix of breathable upper with solid leather so should last a while. Only issue for me is they don't fit my foot width at all, even though in theory they are my size. I will be returning them this week, as they just don't fit as described which is a shame as I wanted to like these! ... show more

I purchased the waterproof Plateau sneakers in early January of this year, and now, only two months later, the soles have worn almost entirely through their tread on the front outer portion of both shoes! I know that anyone reading this may think that I’m overusing them or being too rough, but all I’ve done is go walking or hiking in them for 1-2 hours, 4-5 days per week. I contacted Columbia’s customer service through their site, as my return window with Amazon had closed by the time this issue became apparent, and they gave me the runaround and tried to just say that this is normal wear that happens. Normal shoes wear through their soles with light use after two months??? I think not! Now, my only options are to pay for shipping to have these sent to their warranty department and repaired or refunded for vendor credit if they can’t be repaired. That, or I can pay to have them resoled with a higher-quality material locally. I am not pleased with the quality of these shoes at all, and will not buy Columbia again after this. I recommend you look elsewhere if you value shoes that last more than one season. ... show more

I purchased these shoes for an Alaska Cruise. It rains a good deal in Alaska and you need waterproof shoes. While I gave not gone on the cruise yet, I have worn the shoes to break them in. Out of the box they are comfortable and sturdy. They are Waterproof as advertised and keep your feet dry. Don't expect them to be like Boots that go up to your ankles, they are not. I have worn them to work for days and they are just good athletic shoes plain and simple.I would highly recommend these shoes for a Cruise as well as every day use. ... show more
