  • Easy to use
I put off using this for almost a month, as I tend to do when things seem daunting, but I needed have worried. This was much easier than anything I had made it out in my mind to be. This comes with a wide strip of flushable paper with tape on the two ends. Stick it to the toilet seat with the middle of the paper hanging where you think your "specimen" will drop... then sit and go. After you're finished, open up the smaller end of the included test tube, poke the little stick in your poop six times, screw it back into the tube and shake well. After shaking, open the other end of the test tube and use the dropper on that side to squeeze three drops into the included test kit window. It works exactly like a covid or pregnancy test, with this then running into a results window and you have to look for the control "C" line and the test "T" line. Wait ten minutes and if you get two lines, it has detected blood in your stool. If you get only one line, then no blood is detected. This actually took me even less time to do than a covid test, and those don't take very long. This isn't a replacement for a colonoscopy if you are over age 45 or if you are at-risk, but this is a good general screening test for people who are younger or in between colonoscopies. If your results come back positive (presence of blood detected), follow up with your doctor. It could be something benign, but it's always good to check it out. I'm grateful for the peace of mind this gave me and plan on ordering another one for my husband! ... show more

  • I wouldn't bother...
If you're looking for a way to avoid a colonoscopy I wouldn't bother with any of these tests... To many "very" light lines... Just go to your doctor, get a cologuard and call it a day... It's free and much more reliable.

  • Hard to use
I assumed I would have to mail the sample in and wait for the results, so that was a pleasant surprise. But I didn't like the way you have to collect the sample and it was a bit confusing. I think it's good for a simple test but I'd still recommend a visit to your doctor for "the real thing."

  • Results in 10 minutes
My dad had colon cancer so it makes sense for me to check. I will continue to have colonoscopies every few years but a test like this which is non-invasive, inexpensive and quick and can be done entirely at home seems like a no brainer. I thought I would have to take the sample and mail it in, but this is more like the at-home COVID tests. The process is relatively simple and the instructions are clear. You do have to take it step-by-step and make sure you apply the test sample to the right end of the strip. I didn’t find the provided paper that covered the toilet very helpful. It tore and I couldn’t get the placement right anyway. I ended up catching the stool with a piece of toilet paper. That is the only element that I think could be improved. A larger sheet and maybe a stronger one would be great. Of course, you have to consider how you will feel if the results are positive and if you are prepared to deal with that at home without a doctor present. If you are not, this test isn’t for you. If you are uncomfortable with the accuracy of the results, you can always set up an appointment for a colonoscopy too. And, especially if the results are positive, take action quickly. Luckily for me, the test was negative. I just had to set my timer for 10 minutes to get the results. I appreciate having this home kit. It made things so easy and I feel confident with the results. ... show more

  • Meh
Not a real cancer screening test. The packaging makes it very clear this isn't actually testing for cancer or doing any real screening, all it does is check for blood in your stool. So while it could still be valuable it's not really what it says it is. This doesn't replace true testing and seems like you are likely to get false positives and negatives depending on your bowel movements that day. It's just a high price tag for what basically equates to testing your poop for blood. I think my copay to get a real test in a doctors office would actually be less than buying this kit. So might be right for the right person but I wouldn't trust the results and it seems like a poor replacement for a colonoscopy. ... show more

  • Better than avoiding it!
For those who may not know, in the US they recently lowered the colorectal screening recommended age to 45 instead of 50 which it was previously. The past couple of times that I've gone to my GP they have recommended me to get a screening. I have a few personal reasons for not having done it yet that I won't get into. I saw this test kit and thought to myself that it is definitely better to do this at home and follow up with my doctor on the next visit than to just continue avoiding it. I can't vouch for any kind of accuracy with this test kit because I simply don't know enough. The directions seem to be thorough and easy to understand and follow. The actual test pieces are sealed - I would be really concerned if they weren't. I know that cancer screening for early detection is very important instead of waiting for symptoms to show up, so I do feel better about a home test kit rather than avoiding and delaying further. I consider this to be good for my peace of mind. I think photo documenting and sharing the at home test results with my GP on my next visit is wise so that I can get their input. ... show more

  • Serves a limited purpose
This screening test is easy to use for the most part, and you get results right away, however, it is just testing for blood. There are a lot of factors that could affect results. I also found the lines to be hard to read.
