  • Probably the best Cold Weather Bag for the price!
Color: Olive Style: Sleeping Bag Pattern Name: Bag
For the price and performance, I don't think this sleeping bag can be beat, especially if you are looking for maximum warmth in severe cold camping conditions. The lining is very smooth and surprisingly comfortable, while also adding the benefit of providing a degree of water/weather resistance. Likewise, there is a generous amount of insulation that is fitted well in the sleeping bag so that it does not shift or clump up, keeping the whole bag evenly insulated. The mummy style also contributes to rapid warming, without the need for multiple layers of clothing. Other features such as the "zipper plow" make it a breeze to zip/unzip the bag which just further adds to how much value there is to this bag. The only "drawback" to this bag is that it is fairly large and bulky; if you are a backpack camper trying to find lightweight performance, this is not it. Also, if you are someone who feels constricted in mummy style bags, take a look at Coleman's Big Basin sleeping bag instead; it has similar performance but in a standard "rectangle" shape. For my purposes though, this is basically perfect! ... show more

This sleeping bag is very comfortable and keeps me warm and cozy during cold nights. It’s spacious and good quality. I’m happy with it and worth the price in my opinion.

  • Surprising secondary use for this amazing bag!
Color: Olive Style: Sleeping Bag Pattern Name: Bag
First of all let me say I really love this bag. It is exactly what I expected but actually the feel of the bag is more than I expected. It is better craftsmanship than I was actually thinking would arrive. Secondly let me tell you that I know most of you reading my review have probably read the negative reviews where you had people saying that they were five foot six and a hundred and fifty pounds, yada yada, and could not fit in this bag. I am 5 foot 8, 210 pounds and I fit in this bag just fine. It is a mummy bag. It is supposed to be small. I have at least four inches left if I slide all the way up into the hood of the bag where I'm supposed to be. Possibly even 6 inches of length left before I run out of room in the foot box. For those of you who do find this product to be a little tight just unzip it completely and flip it over the top of you and it makes a wonderful 0 degree blanket. This is how I sleep with this bag every single night. Since I got this bag I have not used our comforter. I like to sleep cold. My wife and I set our air conditioner at 62 degrees and we always have a box fan on high so our bedroom is quite cold at night. I have this bag laying on my side of the bed and I use it exclusively now. it is still August therefore I cannot test it in really cold temperatures so that is why I am only giving it for Starz because I do not yet know how it will perform on Say a 10 degree night. Not yet. All the reviewers who say this bag will not keep you warm are using the bag incorrectly. If you use the bag properly and do everything you are supposed to do this bag will keep you plenty warm and temperatures down into the 30s. The way sleeping bag ratings work is that the bag has a certain comfort zone but an example is this 0 degree bag will keep you alive down to the temperatures at or close to 0° if and ONLY IF you do everything else properly. a zero-degree rating does not mean you will sleep warm and cozy in zero-degree weather it means you will survive 0 degree weather. You will be cold. However you will not die in the night from exposure. Realistically this bag is really good at 30 to 40 degrees Fahrenheit as far as you rolling yourself into it and sleeping warm. It is a very comfortable bag. the only issue I have ever had with this bag is that when it was brand new the zipper did not operate very well. This is because it needs a break-in period. You need to zip and unzip the bag fully about half a dozen times and the zipper becomes used to the action and gets easier. Now I have no trouble with the zipper at all. It just needed to be used. I love this bag so much I will be purchasing a second one for my wife. oh, and by the way. You know how I said you could just unzip the bag and flip it over the top of yourself and use it as a zero degree blanket? This bag is large enough when unzipped that if you and your partner or anyone else who needs to keep warm with you lay side-by-side and close to each other you can both share the foot box and the bag opens up essentially as a large V shape and is big enough to cover two people. My wife and I have used this bag in tandem so although it is only supposed to be 4 sitting one person snugly if you unzip it you can use it to cover two people and keep very warm because you will have body heat from both of you under the fabric. This is what would make it a very handy survival essential for a cold night. if you are sleeping in a situation where you are going to be in below-freezing weather you should already have some kind of a bed or something under you anyway whether it is a stuff sack filled with leaves and grasses and pine needles or something else. therefore conduction and convection are battled from underneath so all you need is the one cover and this will do more than adequately for two people. My wife and I are both considered obese buy BMI standards and it covers both of us very adequately and we both sleep well using it as a blanket and not just a one-man sleeping bag. This was a very nice surprise to find that I could use this bag in such a way. so to make a very long story short if you have a problem being inside the bag with it except because it is extremely tight and perhaps you suffer from claustrophobia as long as you have a good bed underneath you of whatever material you can make one out of the bag works perfectly as a zero degree blanket. No claustrophobia issues and you will sleep nice and warm. Also if you happen to be heavier-set and maybe just can't fit the bag because of excess body weight this also negates that issue and allows you to use this bag. ... show more

  • Excellent bag...if your not looking to cut down size & weight
Color: Olive Style: Sleeping Bag Pattern Name: Bag
I haven't slept in it yet. I haven't tested it's temp rating but it's high quality fabric, insulation, well sewn, & if I remember correctly, as I don't have it in front of me right now, it has what I'll call a "zipper assist" making it harder to derail the zipper, which can happen so easily with smaller zippers I've had on other sleeping bags. As I said, I wouldn't call it a high speed low drag sleeping bag, look at the price, why would you, but it's a great bag for the money. I ordered another brand that starts with a B a long with it & comparing the two side by side, hands down, the Coleman was far superior. If your not backpacking in it will serve you well. Even if you are back packing in it will serve you well but it will be a little heavier & take up more space. ... show more

  • it is a bag that you sleep in
Color: Olive Style: Sleeping Bag Pattern Name: Bag
Warm; saved my morale on a very arduous hike through 3 feet of snow up a VT. mountain side with snow covered planks all the way up and down. God, never again. I despise the mummy-style bag, but use it anyway because camping is not really about domesticated comfort. This bag design is perfect for survival and staying warm under very bad circumstances, assuming precautions are kept to keep it dry. It is not meant for chilling at the house, so it gets all the stars it deserves, despite being annoying from a true comfort standpoint. I just wish it had like an inch more width at the bottom. I'm 6'1" and it was too long, but not wide enough at the feet...but again, it is a mummy bag and I got what I paid for. It did the trick; just keep your feet together and contort your body like a night crawler until fatigue overcomes discomfort and your own stupidity for not staying at home. On a serious note, the bag is very cozy and plush enough to almost be annoying to carry, but if you avoid sleeping pads like I do, the thickness of it is a huge win. ... show more
