  • Great in a pinch
Style: Standard
Put a few of these in my ruck on a 2 day kayak/camping river trip. Well it poured the 2nd day. I never wear rain gear since the Army but had them for my wife and daughter. The rain got so intense I was like well I'm gonna try these out. Other then my feet...I was bone dry loading all our gear on the yaks to leave. I'm not a fan of ponchos but these were awesome and cheap. I bought 4 more to keep in my IFAK, my truck, and my wife's vehicle. I think they would be strong enough for a litter to carry an injured person and also could be cut for a make shift shelter. They dont have grommets like a GI poncho but if there isnt to much tension you could use them as a rain fly or water catch. In a pinch there great. Compared to a standard poncho which is more to carry you can't beat it in an emergency. ... show more

  • Very handy emergency poncho
Style: Standard
Listen, I know a lot of other reviews say this poncho isn't great and you should just fork over your money for an actual poncho. You would have to constantly keep a bulky poncho with you, whereas this comes fairly flat and in a small bag that fits into a pocket/bag/glove compartment. This specifically says it's an emergency poncho, which means if you're caught out in the middle of nowhere and need a poncho, this is what you want. I go camping and canoeing every year, and the weather is usually random. It'll be sunny and great, but then a strong sudden downpour will happen. While my companions are getting soaked, I open one of these emergency ponchos, pull it over me and get the hood over my head, and I stay dry. While I do describe these ponchos as glorified trash bags, they're better than that. The thin plastic does feel like a trash bag, but it's surprisingly strong. One time I tried to rip it off and the plastic just stretched a lot and I ended up just taking it off like I would have normally. It's a good length (I'm short so the bottom goes to about mid-thigh on me) and the sleeves go all the way to my wrists. The neckhole is a bit of a tight fit when putting it on, but that's kind of what you want since you don't want water streaming into the inside. The hood covers my entire head with a bit of excess material that creates a sort of brim that the water runs off without going on to my face. The plastic material also helps to keep body warmth near, if the temperature drops a bit due to the rain. I take about 3 or 4 of these with me on my camping trips, since they're definitely one-time-use. If you take it off gently, shake it off and fold it somehow, you could probably use it one or two more times. I don't usually bother, though, since they're priced so cheaply (although there is a bit of a markup of these here on Amazon compared to my local W*lm*rt). So if you're looking for a cheap poncho that will keep the water off you during an emergency situation, this is the poncho for you. ... show more

  • Cheap and does the job!
Style: Standard
Depending what you're using it for, these are cheap and good for a quick use and throw-away if you don't want to spend more on one. It will get you through a random rainy day with keeping you mostly dry (upper body) or through a water ride at a theme park. It's cheap enough to buy a few to keep on hand and you won't mind throwing it out after a quick use. If you need an everyday or multi-use one, you're better off buying a heavier duty reusable one. For the random rainy day, this should be plenty. Keep in mind your legs/feet will probably still get wet ... show more

  • Worked well in a pinch.
Style: Standard
I was far from home with a broken umbrella in my bag when it started raining hard. It was a downpour. I had recently bought a few of these and thrown one in my bag and it came in sooo handy. It kept me pretty dry (except for my legs, which the poncho does not cover) when I had nothing else. It's a thin material, though, and it won't last repeated use, but I would suggest everyone keep one in their bag for emergencies. ... show more

I bought this as a replacement for the one I keep in my backpack. I gave it to my friend on a rainy day when he had to take the bus. He folded it up and continued using it for a few weeks. Really handy to keep around.

  • GREAT IN A PINCH!
Style: Standard
I LOVE THESE PONCHOS! I CAN SLIP ONE INTO A PURSE OR BACKPACK. I'M NEVER CAUGHT IN THE RAIN, SEARCHING FOR A DRUGSTORE OR UMBRELLA SHOP. I CAN WALK CALMLY IN A RAINSTORM WHILE OTHERS RUN FOR COVER BECAUSE THE HOOD PROTECTS ME. I KEEP A PILE OF THESE AROUND FOR UNEXPECTED MOMENTS AND TO GIVE TO GUESTS. ... show more

  • easy to carry super-compact package
Style: Standard
I needed a single-use compact travel poncho for a trip last year to the famous Water Curtain Cave in Taroko National Park in Taiwan (水簾洞). I can confirm it did indeed keep me dry. Package was super compact and lightweight.

  • Great to have!
Style: Standard
This is a great buy for travel, to keep in your purse, car, boat or where you might need it when you are caught out in the rain. It’s small so will fit inside a purse, luggage or backpack and not take up much space. I bought mine for travel. Going to the UK and it rains a lot there and sometimes it’s much easier to wear this instead of holding an umbrella. ... show more
