I had a similar electric moka maker that lasted about three years. It never stopped working but it just got very, very slow -- taking up to 15 minutes to make a cup of moka. This unit works fast -- about 3 or 4 minutes from when I press the button on to when I pour my coffee. It works very well, no loose grounds, and does a great job with flavor. I also really like this black version of the moka maker. It's sleek and fairly well made. I don't find it to leak and although you DO need to pour a bit on the slower side, but I find the spout perfectly fine. There's 2 of us and while it's super simple and excellent coffee you have to make 2 pots for 2 people. If they have a larger option I'd do that. If it doesn't matter to you then I highly recommend this.

While the portability of this espresso maker is unparalleled - light, small, easy to take with you - the inner components makes you wish it was better, the two ‘filters’ that are made of aluminum has holes that are too large for espresso grinds, leading to coffee grinds making it to the top chamber. This could be mitigated with two solutions; getting a finer filter internals or using a coffee filter to make sure the grinds don’t pass to the top chamber. Apart from that, this moka pot is perfect, heats up quick and makes good coffee. Would be 5 out of 5 if the filters were stainless steel and finer holes. This will not be a problem for coarser grinds of coffee but moka pots are for espressos. ... show more
