The media could not be loaded. I didn't use this coffee grinder for its intended purpose, but rather for blending dried tomato skins into powder. It might be more efficient for coffee beans, because I had a few issues when using it to grind tomato skins: 1. This grinder makes a mess. Even though there isn’t a visible gap between the lid and the body, puffs of tomato powder would escape through the lid while I was grinding, and dust my counter with fine powder shrapnel. I ended up grinding on a plate, and it still made a mess. 2. It’s seriously annoying to clean. Now I know - I prefer a removable grinding bowl. You’re basically limited to using a damp towel and their spoon/scrubber if you don’t want to get the whole thing— power cord and all— wet. To make matters worse, they also put screws in the grinding bowl. Good luck cleaning the heads of those with your damp cloth. Finally, the area behind the lid button became coated with tomato powder. I ended up throwing caution to the wind by washing the lid under the sink while pressing the button. 3. It is LOUD. Maybe its high-pitched whine is normal for a coffee grinder (I’ve never had one before), but it sounds like it wants to blast into outer space or fly into pieces. I was tempted to put on hearing protection. 4. The grinder had difficulty grinding quarter size, paper-thin pieces of tomato skin into powder in a reasonable amount of time. However, since I’ve never had one before, this might be normal for a coffee grinder. I ended up blending the pieces of skin into flakes in my food processor before putting it through the coffee grinder. Despite these grievances, the coffee grinder did work - my tomato flakes did convert to fine tomato powder in about 10 seconds (after some pre-grinding, a mess, difficult cleaning and a literal headache from the sound). Given that I'm not using this grinder for it's intended purpose (to be fair) I'll still give it 4 stars. ... show more

I have no major complaints about this grinder. The only thing that could be improved is making the lid fit more easily into the base, but it is easy enough to operate. At this price point something is usually going to be slightly less efficient than a higher priced grinder. I uploaded some photos to show the results that can be obtained. I have been using budget grinders for years because I do not see a reason to go with a higher end system. I have some advice from my years of using grinders like this one. First of all, if you want to have a more coarse grind you will need to add less to the reservoir. That way you can grind it more coarsely, yet get a more consistent grind. The more product you add to the grinder, the more fine the overall result because you have to run it longer to grind up everything in the hopper. ... show more

The grinder works well. Able to get a nice fine grind on coffee. Put whole cardamom shells through and it really did a pretty solid job. Shell bits still juuuust slightly larger than I'd prefer, though quite improved from our old coffee grinder. Where this grinder fails is in the remainder of the experience on minor - though key - details. Here's a few thoughts to consider: 1. Push to start button doesn't always engage unless I push it from the right angle. I can always get it to work, though half the time I have to think about it - especially if I'm trying to pulse grind. 2. Grounds get up into the side of the lid where it "seals" with the grinder. Makes an instant small mess when I open the grinder. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. 3. Lid falls off immediately when storing this grinder horizontally in a drawer, making it more of a hassle to store 4. Lid design has tight crevices on the inside that ground material sticks in and a finger can't guide out. In fairness, a brush was provided and it does work, though I would prefer to only need the brush to clean the blade as the lid design is simply lacking thoughtful consideration 5. The guiding pins on the lid are slightly undersized or not quite optimally positioned as the lid takes just a little more effort to get all the way on than desired. I want to be able to "pop the lid on" without having to think about it, look at it in depth, or figure out how to line it up just right. It's close, though it lacks sufficient final attention to detail Final thought and consideration is that the grinder instructions indicate it has a maximum continuous runtime of 1 minute. Needs a 1 minute break, and can then run for another minute. With alternating breaks and use it can run for up to 3 minutes in a 6 minute period before needing a "longer" (unspecified) cooldown cycle. This is entirely sufficient for our needs, though felt it's just short enough it's worth calling out for anyone considering bigger batches. The lower (though acceptable for us) duty-time may also suggest the total service life of this product isn't expected to be for many years of regular use. All said, we haven't thrown our old coffee grinder away yet, even though this one does a better job of more finely and more consistently grinding than our old one. ... show more

This grinder arrived quickly in seemingly new condition. It looks great and does a decent job. However, there seems to be an issue with the activation button on the top of the grinder. At first I couldn't get it to turn on and thought I may not have the cap fully screwed on. It turns out that the button has a sort of "sweet spot" when it comes to getting activated. It is unclear if it's a design flaw or quality control issue, but after a few trial and errors I was finally able to successfully turn the grinder on several times in a row.
