I used to have an old style, expensive espresso machine, but I abandoned it because it was more work that it was worth. I've know there are pod style espresso machines, but hadn't really explored them because I figured they were expensive and an indulgence I didn't need, and wasn't sure pod coffee could offer the same experience. When I saw this sleek espresso maker available, I remembered how much we do like espresso and took the opportunity to join the modern world. Simply put, this machine and the espresso it makes is magnificent! It has a small counter footprint, it's well made and very attractive. It's extremely easy use and clean, and very affordable. You can make 2 large cups of espresso in about the same time it takes to realize you want a cup. It takes the original size of Nespresso pods which are readily available on Amazon. There are lots to choose from. I chose a small variety of the coffee brand I use every day, and I couldn't be happier with the espresso this darling machine makes with them.     • Super lightweight but effective so far
To go with our Vertuo line coffee maker, I decided to give the classic smaller Nespresso pods a try with this little ILAVIE espresso maker. My first concern was how utterly lightweight it is. I seem to have a lot of coffee makers (drip, Keurig, Nespresso, espresso makers, and a few others) and this seems to be the lightest weight self-heating one I have. That said, it's easy to put in place, slim to fit between some of the other makers to make its place on our impromptu coffee bar, and is very straigthforward: drop in a pod, place a cup, push button of the size of espresso you want once to select it, then a second time to have it start when its ready. As Nespresso seems to be deprioritizing this older style machine in favor of the Vertuo line (where they hold the patent on the pods and thus have more control over collecting more money when you buy them), I've found it harder to find this classes type. On the other hand, this really gives you two option of large or small espresso shots vs. the newer models/pods providing a broader range of sizes and options. So far, this little guy has ticked along well and is continuing to perform. I'm concerned about the longevity given just how lightweight it feels, and given that name brand competitors aren't very much more expensive, but for now it's functioning well and has a home on our lineup of coffee machines. ... show more

This is a nice size espresso machine. It’s not so tiny that you have to fill out the water reservoir every single time but it’s also not so big that it takes up a lot of space. The chrome trim is a nice touch as well. The cord appears to be adequate length to be able to reach most places that you would want to put the Espresso maker the overflow reservoir in the front pools completely out. It is also used to catch the empty pods when making a new espresso. There’s no need to remove the old espresso pod each time before making coffee. This machine is for the original Nespresso pods, not the vertuo pods. It also has 2 cup settings in case you want less water or more water and your espresso. It is also nice that once it starts brewing, you can hit the same button again to stop it in the middle of the cycle. ... show more

I love the size of this Espresso machine. It is small enough for a college dorm room or a small bedroom space. It makes delicious Espresso coffee in seconds and is simple to use.
