These are not junky. I put better quality line on the reels and added a few larger bobbers, size 6 bait holder hooks bigger split shot, and pliers. The kids seem to do fine with them ages 6 and 9, but these could be used by anyone for Blue Gills, crappy, bullheads. I emphasize these are not junk, surprisingly nice little rods,and reels. My 11, 9, 8 and 7 year old grandkids loved them. Everything is included to get started right away. Telescoping rods with detachable reel. The buckets are small, would be great for bait. Great value for the price. (If you catch a fish you will need a pair of pliers to pull the hook out)

First of all, I was impressed with the all the essential items included in this kid’s fishing set. It would be a great value if it worked! There were 2 rod/reels and first time out, one worked great but the other did not. The reel seemed to malfunction as it would not retract the line. I am pretty good with these things, and I tried a few fixes, but no dice. On their first fishing trip, I had one happy granddaughter and one who was very disappointed.
