Description

USS Enterprise is an American aircraft carrier from World War II. Its name means "entrepreneurial", "darts" and "full of energy". It was already the seventh ship bearing this honourable name in the US Navy. It was commonly called "Big E". It served very actively in the Pacific throughout the war with Japan. It was honoured with 20 stars for its combat operations. The USS Enterprise was entered into service in May 1938. It was equipped with 8 universal 127 mm calibre guns. During the war, new more effective small- calibre anti-aircraft guns and large-calibre machine guns were constantly exchanged and added. The air carrier was also equipped with the most modern air surveillance radars, radio altimeter and rangefinder. USS Enterprise took 70 - 91 aircraft with it depending on the period. These were fighters, dive bombers and torpedo planes. Official statistics confirm that 911 enemy planes and artillery shot down. Its dive bombers and torpedo planes contributed to the sinking of 71 enemy ships and damaged another 192. The USS Enterprise operated in the Pearl Harbour area in the initial phase of the war. It covered the Hornet aircraft carrier during the first raid on Tokyo (Doolittle Rally). As a flagship, she took part in the battle for Midway, in which planes from American carriers led to the sinking of four Japanese carriers. During the battle in the Solomon Islands the Enterprise was severely damaged. After refurbishment at Pearl Harbour, it returned to warfare, supporting landing operations and taking part in bombing of Japanese targets. The USS Enterprise took part in a great battle in the Philippine Sea. An operational group with the Enterprise in its fleet, contributed to the sinking of the super battleship Musashi. On February 10, 1945 the Enterprise supported the landing and fighting on Iwo Jim. The end of the war found the Enterprise at Puget Sound Navy Yard where it was repaired after taking damage from one of the kamikaze planes. From the world of COBI comes a model of the legendary USS Enterprise aircraft carrier (CV-6). The kit has been designed in a standard 1:300 scale. The set consisting of as many as 2510 blocks will provide many hours of exciting construction and fun. Using high quality prints to reproduce the deck painting and ship's details from the World War II period this model will really please those builders who like detail in their kits. The high quality of this kit means that the prints do not wear after time or with play from little one’s hands. The model is equipped with as many as 6 micro-block aircraft and a special transparent block, which after being attached to the undercarriage can imitate the plane taking off. The USS Enterprise aircraft (CV-6) can be displayed on the fantastic stand included in the kit. This set will add to any collection of large and small fans of Navy, history and model- making. 2510 high quality elements, nameplate, produced in the EU by a company with over 20 years of tradition, meet the safety standards for children's products, Fully compatible with other brands of construction blocks, Printed pads do not deform and do not fade during play or under temperature, clear and intuitive instruction based on drawings and icons, moving parts, 6 miniature aircraft models, a special transparent block which, when attached to the underlay, can imitate a take-off plane.

  • Great build.
It was fun to build. Easy to assemble once you use to instruction (a bit different than lego). Very sturdy. My 6 yo love to play with it. Looks great on the shelf. Few extra pieces left, but 1 small part was missing (or my kid loose it when helping.... I don't know). I replace with lego. Plastic quality is good, shapes fit together nicely. I would say quality is 10% worst than Lego, but waaaay better than Chinese brands. This thing is huge. ... show more

  • Great building set
This is the first product I bought from COBI, and I have to say that I was very impressed. The quality is great, and the instructions were easy to follow. Any mistakes were due to my own errors in reading the instructions. I will definitely like to build another set from COBI, and they are a great alternate to Lego. ... show more

  • Very nice model. One piece missing
The model itself is very, very nice. The only reason I give it 4 stars and not 5 is that one of the pieces on the front was missing from the package and I had to improvise with Lego pieces I had from a different set. Otherwise it’s worth the money. Also, it took 3 deliveries for Amazon to make it right, as they delivered the item the first 2 times with open (really smashed and opened) box. I returned these two deliveries . The third time I received a brand new item, as it was advertised. The box was also in perfect condition the third time. ... show more

  • Awesome kit!
I have put together many kits from Cobi. They are never missing pieces, the instructions are clear and well put together, and the finished product is a really awesome piece! You can never go wrong buying from this company. It’s a quality product and well worth the money. My only regret is this kit was a little too easy to put together and I finished it too quickly! Now I need another project. ... show more

  • Haven't built it yet, but it's going to be beautiful, but haven't had the time yet..
Might go up to 5 stars once it's built, hand for scale

  • Perfect For Any Fan of Historic Models
I highly recommend anyone who's into realistic historic building models to pick up this set. Not only is it a beautiful display piece but it is fun to put together. The price is well worth it, especially with the discounted price I purchase it at, and a great deal compared to other leading brands. There are a few minor issues I encountered ( The connection on the larger 8 turrets varies in terms of friction, one of them being very loose as to the point of being un-posable, the front-most 2 propellers are unable to turn, as they are essentially touching the hull, a few pieces in the rear near the propeller come loose easily with force, and a few more issues) but they were mostly nitpicks and don't take away from the overall building process and experience. I will say that this was much larger than I had anticipated, which I was more than happy about, so you will have to allocate a decent amount of space to display this beast. In my opinion, Cobi is one of the best alternatives to Lego and they do an excellent job at making accurate historical models, and this is one of their better sets (not to say that any of their sets are bad), so if you own other Cobi models and enjoyed them, I implore you to buy this, and if you have no experience with Cobi and enjoy building Lego sets, I HIGHLY recommend taking a dive into their wide assortment of gems. ... show more

  • Big E
-General- My comments here apply to most, if not all of Cobi's building sets. So far I've built several of Cobi's ship and plane sets, soon to be truck/tank sets, and they are easily the go-to brick-building company for both military and civilian vehicle sets. I've looked into some of the other brick builders like Oxford and inFUNity, and they just didn't seem as polished and well thought out as Cobi. The unique and effective catalogue of bricks they use make for cleverly designed and built sets, which are extremely satisfying to construct, if you're coming from Lego's standard set of bricks. It's real nice not having to go to niche custom set designers for some really solid renditions of all kinds of vehicles. Their building instructions are a bit different to that of Lego's, which threw me for a loop at first, but I soon realized it's a better way of instructing. It makes it a bit clearer as to what bricks go where, especially with how similar some of their bricks can be. They also print a lot of the decals on the bricks, so no stickers! -Enterprise- Specific to this set, the Enterprise is a historical icon, and Cobi has reimagined it wonderfully. The hull form is superbly designed to shape, the sub flight-deck structures are amazingly detailed (far more than I thought possible), the flight deck is lined with a ton 12.7mm Brownings which is just awesome looking, and they made special molds for the planes that turned out really good. The build could easily take several days of on-off building. ... show more

Way too big and complicated but the challenge was met and things went well.
