  • Boosts Mic Performance with a Minor Concern
Size: CL-1
I purchased the Cloud Microphones Cloudlifter CL-1 Mic Activator for my audio setup, pairing it with my Shure microphone and the Roland VR-1HD for phantom power. After some thorough testing, I'm ready to share my experience, which has been largely positive with a slight concern. The Good: Powerful Mic Boost: The Cloudlifter CL-1 does an excellent job of amplifying the microphone signal. It's particularly noticeable with my Shure mic, providing a significant and clean boost in gain. This enhancement is crucial for achieving professional-quality sound in recordings and live streaming. I use it for my YouTube channel. I was thinking about starting a podcast by the way. Build Quality and Ease of Use: The build quality is solid, and it's evident that it's made to last. The simplicity of the Cloudlifter is also a plus and it's pretty much plug-and-play, requiring no additional power source, which is a huge convenience. I dont even think you need a additional power such as the phantom although i do hear a difference. The Concern: Interference with my cell phone: My primary concern, and I'm still trying to pinpoint the exact cause, is that having my phone close to the setup and receiving texts or calls causes audio distortion. I suspect this interference might be related to the Cloudlifter, but it's also possible that the Shure mic is picking up these signals. This issue is something to be aware of, especially in a setup where your phone is an essential part of your workflow. I can assure you that once i move my away from the cludlift , the distorsions stop. Overall Impression: Aside from the interference issue, which I'm still investigating, the Cloudlifter CL-1 has been a great addition to my audio equipment. It delivers on its promise of providing clean, amplified sound, which is a game-changer for mics that need that extra boost. The build quality is great, and its ease of use makes it a valuable tool for both amateurs and professionals. Plug and play . Given the significant improvement in sound quality, I would recommend the Cloudlifter CL-1, but with the caveat of being mindful of potential interference from mobile devices. This might be a minor issue or something more specific to my setup, but it's worth mentioning. Overall, I'm pleased with the performance. ... show more

  • Cheaper Than Buying an SM7db
Size: CL-1
If you are trying to record vocals or a miked instrument (like an acoustic guitar) in a DAW with a passive, dynamic mike such as a Shure SM58, you are likely frustrated by the very weak signal you get. You can spend $500 on a mike with a built-in preamp, or you can spend $150 on this guy which will get you pretty much the same result (of course it will work with both dynamic and condenser mikes, although the condenser mikes will require their own power source). I took a screen shot of my DAW, with a side-by-side comparison of the the vocals with and without the Cloudlifter. You can see that the waveform of the Cloudlifted vocals is far more robust, and the vocals here are merely "Testing 123" in a normal speaking voice. No more problems with the vocal track getting drowned out by the other tracks. Great solution to a common problem. ... show more

  • I would only get this if I wanted to use two XLR cables to extend the length a mic can travel
Size: CL-1
The Cloudlifter certainly works and works well. You immediately get a raise in gain without any noise and then you only need to raise your gain knob by a tiny bit and avoid the noise floor with some mics. However the price is quite expensive for something that can be done for much cheapter. The Triton does the same thing for less money. I've found the fact that this is a box that connects two separate XLR cables together a great way to just extend mic cables that have been too short for what I needed them for and I needed a gain boost from. For example, I needed this on an RE20 and so I connected two shorter Mogami cables between them and turned two 10' cables into a 20' cable in the process. ... show more

This product has really helped me with making my music sound so much better, more high quality and just overall Louder. This product is super high quality and durable. I highly recommend this accessory if you’re looking to buy a Shure SM7B mic or for any mic for that matter. It helps with background noise reduction perfectly. • Using with SM7B
Size: CL-1
For those who have the SM7B, you don’t technically NEED this, but it will help with your gain situation if you have a poppy interface. I have the Scarlett Solo 2 and I am able to run the SM7B without the cloudlifter. Heck, it even sounds good without it. But with the cloudlifter, it feels like the rest of my gear is taking a break, and you can almost feel the difference. It’s great quality, easy to use, compatible with most mics, and is super easy to connect. All of the above! The ... show more

  • Just a nicely built piece of equipment overall
Size: CL-1
I'm really happy to have switched to this. There's not a huge difference but the audio is just a bit fuller with this vs the triton fethead I just bought a couple days ago and used initially. The triton was truly a piece of junk built like something you'd buy maybe even at the dollar store with the glued on ring that seems to detach for basically everyone. This cloudlifter on the other hand just felt great the second I opened the box. The overall build quality of it gives me much more confidence in it's ability to last as well. I re did a layer of vocals in a song I'm working on right now using it and it just sounds great. The triton also made things sound great but a pinch less great - I just decided to bite the bullet on this one and fork out the extra money so I don't end up having to buy both items later once the return period closes after the inevitable failure the triton will likely to have. This was triple the money but it honestly gives me 10x the confidence going forward which makes it worth it imo. ... show more

  • Wonderful
Size: CL-2
Mostly using this with ribbon Microphones. Initially, because I was worried that I might accidentally hit them with phantom power and destroy them. So there’s that piece of mind but, it really lets the personality shine through. Likewise, with the sure SM7B.

  • Perfect 👌
Size: CL-1
If you are questioning whether this is worth it or not the answer is yes bud. I own a Shure MV7 and this makes my mic clear of background sounds and connected to my focusrite scarlett solo 4th gen. Chefs kiss.
