I've been using a single-person mini Clostnature tent for two years now for bikepacking. I really like it. It sets up and takes down quickly, is lightweight, reasonably water repellent and packs very small. It doesn't seem particularly robust and likely won't last forever but adding strength would add weight. As others have noted, don't expect a tent to keep you warm. I bought this tent for a 10 night canoe trek in the Boundary Waters area of Minnesota. The tent worked great. It was easy to set up and take down every day and fit back nicely in its storage bag. The bag was compact but still had room for a plastic sheet that I used as a tent base. The total weight was less than 4 lbs which was important during our portages. The tent remained dry through several heavy rain storms. I am 5’8” and I found the size just about right for a one person tent. I still had room to store some gear and I had enough space to sit up and change clothes. I don’t think the tent would be suitable for anyone over 6’. Overall I am very pleased with this tent and consider it a great value. I expect to get a lot more use out of it. I saw another reviewer was puzzled about the extra short piece of tube. That tube is for an emergency joint repair in case one of the tent pole joints failed, hopefully you will never need it. ... show more

Very nice overall quality, easy setup, does what is advertised. Size is accurate to the description. Decent quality zipper but has stretch cord pulls which I found a little awkward. I never used the outer as I always use a tarp over the inner. One clip base tore on the first use right below where the poles cross at the peak as indicated in the photo. Overall, definitely a buy if you’re looking for a decent hiker. Just don’t pull the tieouts too tight. The tear was an easy repair with a touch of Gorilla Glue. ... show more

    • Good One Person Tent But Not For Tall Folks

Good quality, light weight and easy set up. I would not recommend for below 50 degree weather. It does stay warm and the vent flaps are a nice feature when the rain fly is on. Also, it's not made for very tall people. It may be a bit uncomfortable to folks taller than 5'10 or so. (i'm 5'7).

I have no less than 10 one man backpacking tents ranging in price from $80 (clostnature) to upward of $500 (zpacks). Today, I set all of them up on my front lawn to see which one I would take on my next trip (November in Vermont). Guess which one I picked? Ease of set up, reliability, waterproofness (if that a word), durability, and comfort, make this the best choice for me even though it’s one of the heavier tents in my collection. Never an issue getting g a solid pitch. Never an issue with wind or water. No ground cloth needed as the material is so solid. Hard to explain why this budget tent has become my “go to” for multi day backpacking trips. I have to think that some of my fellow backpackers turn their nose up at this budget tent. Yes, 4 lbs is heavy but it’s not hard to find 2 lbs or so that I can cut from my pack to make it a non-issue. Do I really need a UL table? Do I really need a fancy jet-boil cook system? Do I really need that extra litre of water (yes) but I can always find way to make it work. I regret that I have spent so much money on so many tents only to come back to an $80 polyester tent.     • Great budget bikepacking option

While not 'ultra-light' compared the big name, big $$ options, it's light enough for a bikepacking. It packs/crushes down small enough to fit in my Revelate Sweet Roll (L) along with my sleeping bag and sleeping pad and all fit on my drop bars (about 17") comfortably. (Note: I will be carrying the poles and stakes elsewhere.) Setup is super easy, and only takes a few minutes. Size is perfect for me. I'm 5'10" 170lbs, and stretched out, my head and feet just miss hitting the walls at the head & foot of the tent. Laying in a more natural sleeping position leaves plenty of room. I'm a short-legged/long torso guy and sitting up, my head does hit the top netting a bit... but for everything else this tent is, I can live with that. The width is perfect too, leaving plenty of room to roll over and change positions and/or store a small bag or two inside. Plenty of room to comfortably change clothes. The vestibule is decent, but not huge. Shoes and a backpack, or a few bikepacking bags will fit and keep them out of the rain when it's fully closed. However, the vestibule won't offer much protection for you if you plan to sit partially inside the tent while cooking outside, for example. There are 2 storage nets built-in at the head-end, plus a 3rd larger one that clips to the top near the foot-end. All are very convenient to store phone, wallet, head torch, etc. I really like that the bathtub and additional ripstop material extends pretty high all around. Will work great for hot, wet nights using a separate tarp higher overhead instead of the rainfly (for better ventilation) to prevent splashing inside. I decided to give this a shot after trying an OR Helium Bivy that turns out is not as waterproof as claimed. This tent passed the sprinkler/irrigation test this morning, so no doubt it will do fine in light-to-moderate rain. This is like a bivy, but a lot more versatile for the extra 1.5lbs it adds to the overall shelter weight compared to the Helium... and about 1/2 the price. Definitely recommend. ... show more
