  • Cleans well and moisturizes. Milky in color and fragrance could be off putting
I have tried other Clear Lee melt and pour soap bases. One thing that I did notice about this hemp seed oil soap is that it definitely has a fragrance. I think this is because hemp has a smell like marijuana. So the manufacturers added a fragrance to try to cover it up. Because of this the fragrance is a bit strong. So it may not be best for people who have sensitivities or allergies. Or for people who want to add their own scents to the soap. In the photo the soap look clear but it is actually milky in color. It is easy to dye and easy to melt. Melting it should generally be done in 15 second intervals or less. I liked is that I could re-melt this soap at least 4 times and it still maintained a good consistency. I found that some of the other soaps started to get more lumpy and unusable the more I reheated them. Another good thing about this soap is how well it cleans and moisturizes the skin. However, the fragrance is a bit off putting and you can smell a little of the undertone of the hemp. ... show more

  • Cleans Well, Does Not Strip Skin, But Migrates Easily In Designing
I have been using melt and pour soaps for a while now. I have used hemp from other sources and have enjoyed doing some designs. This soap, however, is more challenging for designs, but nice as a soap. HOW THIS COMES This soap comes in two 1 lb packages which are individually wrapped. Then these two are wrapped in a plastic wrapping as a package. They are well protected against moisture. EASY TO CUT? This was easy to cut through to make into cubes for melting. HOW I MELTED THIS I used this in a pan of water with glass cups holding the soap to be melted and mixed with colors. HOW DOES IT MELT? This melted pretty easily, although it does take a while so don't expect it to be fast. About 20 minutes is right. HOW DOES IT LEND TO COLORS? I used holographic shimmer to put in the clear base. The problem is that when it is put with other base of other colors, despite a setting time allowed, it migrates almost totally together with the other base. I have not had this issue with other melt and pour bases I have used, including hemp. SOAP PERFORMANCE This sets up nicely and it also makes a great bar of soap. I found it to clean well, not strip skin, and leave skin feeling pretty nice when done using it. FRAGRANCE I used fragrance with this base to give as gifts. It took the fragrance well and the recipient of the soap loves it. THE BOTTOM LINE This clear soap base allows you to use mica or shimmer colorants with it. It is nice as a solid bar, but if mixing with other colors or bases, it seems to mix up a lot despite having setting time in between colors. MY RATING FIVE STARS. This is a great soap base to use as it is. It takes color and fragrance well. When pouring colors you intend to stay separated, it is disappointing as it migrates together almost thoroughly. That is the first time I have encountered this with a melt and pour base that is allowed to set in between layers. ... show more

  • Melt and Pour
Hemp is best as a healing soap, some will mildly help with aches and pains. Add some peppermint oil for a refreshing experience. It holds both scent and color very well. Glitter is great, as you can see through it, and it may be fun to see the sparkles as you wash your hands. 2 pounds is a lot of soap .... and the specialty soaps were always more expensive. So $20 isn't too far above price point. .... But of the 4 bars of soap that I got ... this one has a piece cut off of one corner. Over the years, I have tested quite a wide range of soap products and methods of soap making. These soaps are awesome ...just the right amount of soft and easy to melt. The trick is to cut the soap into small pieces but not too small, then melt, stir, melt stir ... until it is fully melted and it will be HOT. This is when you add color, scent, sparkle. I found a good cheep method of spraying my molds with liquid oil pan spray .. pour in (and over any large item such as sea shells or toys) and then let it set for a few minutes. I had my molds on cookie sheets .. and when they were starting to firm up, I would speed up the process by putting them in the frig for 10 - 15 minutes to cool down the core. These are perfect for this process. And it is super easy to mix in different soaps in layers (don't them cool between layers) and add your own personal touches. One of my favorite tricks was to add ground coffee or ground tea, fresh flowers, and even ground oatmeal to the soap for texture, just not too much. You could also combine salt or sugar. It is so easy to experiment with this soap. None of the soaps have much scent of their own, so perfect for adding your own. ... show more

  • NOT made from marijuana
First off, the type of cannabinoids plant used for hemp seed oil is not the same as the type of cannabinoids plant that is traditionally referred to as marijuana. They are related but the hemp plant has much more fibrous stems and stalks and has a significantly lower amount of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is what provides the "high" associated with marijuana. Also, hemp seed oil is extracted through cold press technology from the crushing of hemp seeds not from the leaves. Though there is a tiny percentage of THC in hemp leaves, hemp seeds have zero THC. So using this soap (or even eating it) won't make you high or cause you to fail a drug test. Packaging: My soap came in a fairly large box with no additional packaging. The box apparently got tossed around a bit and the soap inside arrived with a few smashed corners. Of course this does not really affect the use of this product but it's never fun to receive a new item that doesn't seem new. Scent: My co-reviewer, Louise (see photo), and I could not detect any noticeable fragrance to this soap. Appearance: This soap is quite translucent with an attractive, yellow-green cast to it. This is fantastic soap with no harmful ingredients. ... show more
