I purchased this device to share mouse, keyboard, and monitor between two computers--a desktop and laptop computer. My desktop and monitor have both HDMI and DisplayPort (DP) capability. The laptop, on the other hand, is more limited. It only has HDMI. I chose this KVM because it supports 2160x1440p @ 144hz, the same as my desktop. This KVM only has DP inputs. No biggie, I'll just get an adapter to convert DP to HDMI and my laptop should be fine. So purchase this KVM and an adapter to convert DP to HDMI. It arrives, plug it in. Desktop works fine out of the box. Laptop only has mouse and keyboard control--no video. I also noticed that my keyboard and mouse do not work in the USB 2.0 ports on the front of the KVM. They must be plugged into the USB 3.0 ports instead. No biggie here also--more on this later. Ugh. Thinking the video issue could be related the cable and/or adapter, I purchased another cable which has the proper connections (DP to HDMI) in hopes to eliminate the adapter. When it arrives, I plug it in. However, unfortunately, the same thing occurs. I still have keyboard and mouse control on the laptop but but no video output. Therefore, I reached out to their support department. I nearly immediately received a reply. They were very helpful and suggested that I need a *powered* DP to HDMI adapter. This adapter converts DisplayPort to HDMI and would also consume another USB port to power the adapter. Through our conversation, I became edified. Direction of communication within the cable matters. Some cables can only communicate in a single direction (uni-directional) and others can communicate in both directions (bi-directional). The cables and adapter I purchased were uni-directional but in the wrong direction. This was the cause of my video issue. It was not sending video from my laptop to the KVM. Therefore the technical issue was due to my ignorance and not the KVM itself. Fixed. One final thing, the KVM has a "hotkey" feature. This allows you to double click your middle mouse button or a key combo on the keyboard to switch displays. In addition to switching displays, there is an audible beep when you switch inputs. These "hotkeys" can handle both the switching of inputs as well as disable the beeping if you choose. However, I cannot do either of these because the hotkeys are only available in the USB2.0 ports, not the USB3.0 ports per support. My keyboard and mouse are not recognized in the USB2.0 ports in the front. Therefore, I must live with the audible beep and must switch inputs manually. I suppose I can live with that. I have a Razer Deathadder optical mouse and a Ducky One mechanical keyboard, nothing very fancy. That is unfortunate, so a point off of a perfect score for this. Wish there was a software solution for either of these--a remap of hotkeys and a way to disable the beep. ... show more

If you want dual monitors, you need two display ports. 3 monitors? 3 display ports on your monitors. Didn’t realize this before buying, both of my monitors only have 1 display port. Had to reach out to the manufacturers after spending 100s on cords and adapters. The one they suggest is: B0752D33PJ which allows for HDMI + USB to DP. HDMI + USB would plug into your monitor. Those with 3 monitors will really struggle with this switch, but then again, you’ll struggle with switches in general.     • Affordable setup to share peripherals for work from home

I've been working from home for two years now with my work laptop sitting on the edge of my desk in front of my home computer. My work from home situation recently became permanent, so I decided I needed to do something about my setup. After doing a lot of research on KVM switches and not finding anything that I was really happy with, I decided to take a chance on this one, as it was one of the more economical options. Since I don't share a lot of peripherals beyond monitor, keyboard and mouse between the two computers, I can get by with the simplest one. I've had it up and running for about a week now, and so far, I'm pretty happy with it. It was really easy to set up, and all of the necessary cables came with it. You will probably have to buy a few adapters to make it work with the ports on your computers, and you may need a docking station or something similar if one of your machines does not have two video inputs. It's not perfect by any means. Sometimes when switching between computers, it takes 30 seconds or so for the mouse and keyboard to catch up with the switch. I also usually have to hit the power button on the computer after switching to wake it up, rather than just being able to move the mouse or hit a key to do so. Those are pretty minor annoyances compared with what I've been dealing with, though. Another downside is that it does require a LOT of cables, but all KVMs do. Still, it makes kind of a mess at the back of the desk. At this point, I'm pretty happy with this switch. It does what I need it to do. I've got my dual monitor setup back and only one mouse and keyboard to deal with. My desk is neater (minus those cables) and I have a lot more room to work. ... show more

This review is for the 2x2 HDMI 4K 60H V1A. I've been working from home for the past 2 years, remoting into my workstation. Recently the department decided we would instead be given Dell laptops to use at home, connecting to the facility network via VPN straight from our homes. I like my PC setup (keyboard drawer, two 1080p monitors), and I don't really have a place to put the laptop, plus I don't like its keyboard and mouse pad. So, I bought this switch, and a Dell docking station. I fed all the proper wires from the Dell docking station and my PC into the inputs, wired my monitors to the outputs, and plugged my mouse and keyboard into the front of the switch. At first I got weird behavior from my keyboard - keys were repeating unexpectedly. The mouse movement was also pausing. I turned off the hotkey function on the device, and that took care of the mouse and keyboard issues. I can now use my PC normally and play games on it when not working, and I have a two monitor Windows desktop to use on my laptop, which I can continue using my keyboard and mouse setup for. It was an unexpected extra expense to get this switch, the Dell laptop docking station and the monitor cords necessary to hook everything up, but it works, thankfully. ... show more
