What makes this watch unique is the combination of traditional analog minute/hour hands with the background being a low power monochrome display. This "hybrid" combination packs a lot of activity information that can be displayed in a number of different face formats. The always-on low power monochrome display is what gives the battery 2 week+ longevity. The CZ watch is tied via Bluetooth to your cell phone. The connection has been rock-solid with my Google 6a phone, better than my Fitbit. The step accuracy and calorie figure are undercounting the Fitbit. However, the sleep recording is more accurate than my Fitbit. The Citizen CZ App is less glitzy than what Fitbit offers, but sufficient for basic use. When you first take the watch out of the box and connect it to a charger (not supplied), it will search for your Bluetooth and start downloading to update the software. Keep your phone close by! I made the mistake of leaving the room with my phone which interrupted the download. After that it wouldn't connect properly. I had to clear the memory and reboot the watch to get it to function properly. A nice touch is that the CZ has phosphor luminous dots around the face and on minute/hour hands. If you have good night vision, the green glow is visible all night. For backup, a double tap on the face and it will light up 4 LEDs for 4 seconds. Not adjustable that I can find. The CZ is an analog watch, you have to use the push buttons to go through the menus which is different than swiping through the menus on a Fitbit. Some may find this cumbersome. But that is the charm of an analog watch, the time display and icons are always on and can be read in bright sunlight. The minute and hour hands move independently. For example, for the heart-beat measurement, both hands line up together and tick through 2 rotations to get a pulse reading which is then digitally displayed. I have enjoyed this watch and recommend it to anyone who appreciates the mechanical nature of a traditional analog watch. By the way, the comments on how good this watch looks are true! ... show more

I'm really happy with the watch with the exception of the band, I just couldn't keep wearing it. Fortunately, Garmin Fenix bands fit this watch really well and have a great quick release mechanism. I have a steel bracelet and a couple silicone bands I switch out depending on the day. I was looking for a smartwatch that didn't look like a smartwatch and this fits the bill! ... show more

Not a huge review guy but when a product blows me away I try and make it a point to let people know. I’m a watch guy. (If I had more money I’d have even more than I do) this is far from my most expensive watch but oh man. I was excited to receive it but when it got here it really blew me away. It it GORGEOUS for a smart watch. I’m more of a traditionalist with watches so I don’t own smart watches for the most part but this one is different. Even my wife said she likes this watch more than any other watch I have and I own one very sentimental watch from our honeymoon lol. Needless to say this is worth every penny and frankly paying full price to me feels like a discount. Most hybrid smart watches that I’ve seen their functions are minimal and you don’t really use them too much. Be aware the app just is funcional in Japan and US. In my Country, it is not posible to install the app from Play store. Do not expect functionality of a Smart watch, this is like a daily office and casual watch with extra funtions. To see the dial in darkness, just tap the glass once or twice to see the light. Update (Dec/16/2022): I am rising stars to 4. Baterry life works for 14 to 15 days. Fast charging from 5% to 100% in 1hr 45min. You are going to like this watch if you dont compare it to a Smartwatch, because its main purpose is to give extra funtions from a normal watch. I am liking so far... The watch is nicely designed and comfortable to wear. Great battery life. Controls are kind of clunky and not intuitive at all. Big issue is watch face light. Does not work very well so don't count on being able to use it reliably.

I love the look of the watch, it is close to what I was looking for. Notifications are good sometimes hard to read specially in low light conditions. Please notice that the app only works in certain regions, verify your region is one of those where the app is available to download. Step tracker and heart monitor are not accurate, the step tracker works with the movement of your wrist so it would appear you walked 300 steps just for using you tv remote control. Overall happy with it but id you are looking for a fitness tracker, this is not for you ... show more
