This Christmas Tree music box looks absolutely magical when completed! There are so many cute little details and the colors are so pretty! After you assemble it, you can wind up the music box on the bottom and it plays music while the Santa rolls by on the rotating on the platform. It looks adorable on a decorative bookshelf. Just make sure you put it up a little higher as little ones will absolutely want to play with this! If this kit is too challenging, pull in a friend or family member to help you and join in on the fun! As a beginner to model kits, I found it to be a little more challenging than I was expecting to put together, but in a good way, not a frustrating way. I assembled it with my 8-year-old niece over the weekend and it was a fun challenge. The pieces are quite fragile as they are made from thin pieces of wood. If you have a younger builder helping you, I recommend you remove the pieces prior to starting the build so they don't try to help and break the pieces. You will need some tools and a work space where you can spread all of your pieces and leave them out. They do send some glue to help you out and you may want to use some of if pieces keep falling out of place. The instructions were a bit challenging to follow at first. Everything is shown in pictures. We had to take our time and look carefully at the pictures to find the pieces we needed and to put them together. Fortunately, the pieces already have all of the color on them so it makes it faster and easier to find what you are looking for. It is best to take your time and not rush while putting this model together so that you don't have to take things apart and put them back together. The kit is supposed to take 2 hours to assemble, but it took us longer. We had a lot of fun putting the princess kit together and it is a great way to spend time with a child or preteen. The only issue with this kit is that the look of the music box is quite young and will appeal to girls ages 5 -12, but the recommended age to assemble is 12+. It is a better choice for younger kids, but they will need some adult or older sibling support to successfully assemble it. Reviewing 3D Wooden Jigsaw Puzzle = Christmas Tree Music Box I've just opened this up to see how involved it is to put together, and haven't quite decided whether I'll give the kit unassembled as a gift to be completed by the recipient or if I'll put it together and give the finished product as the gift. After looking over the 'unwrapped' components and the instruction sheet, I am leaning towards putting it together myself. I don't think the recipient would be all that keen on putting this together. The instruction are very involved, with drawings naming every piece and showing just how they fit together. It's one of those items where I'd want to thoroughly go over each step before proceeding with that step, making sure the right pieces are laid out, what needs to be glued gets glued, etc. I don't think it'll be difficult, just a bit time consuming and, provided no major mistakes are made, will probably be a relaxing activity as well. The boards that the pieces are cut from are not at all flimsy, being just under 1/8-inch thick. Each piece should just punch out, but I can't say how easy that will be or if there will be stubborn spots without actually doing it, which I don't want to do just yet. I will say the colors visible on the top board and bottom board are nice and clear, not muddy at all; I assume it's the same for all the boards packed in-between the top and bottom. Just assuming for now that all the pieces are in order and will fit together as intended, that the music box will also work as it's supposed to, this should be a really nice Christmas decoration once completed. With a circumference of roughly 4 inches and a height of 7 1/4 inches it should also be relatively easy to store with all the other ornaments for the season. The only question still remaining is "To assemble or not to assemble" before giving as a gift. ... show more

The grandchildren will be not be around for the holidays so I decided that we would have Christmas in June with them. Ordering this puzzle really helped us to pull off an early holiday celebration. This was the first 3D puzzle any of us had done, adults or kids. We had a blast putting this Christmas tree music box together. It was a little more challenging than anticipated, which mildly frustrated us adults but my 12-year-old grandson really loved figuring it all out. The quality of this puzzle is excellent all around. All parts were included and accounted for, the pieces were precisely cut and fit together beautifully, and the colors / imagery are exactly as pictured. Really, the finished product looks exactly like the pictures on the product page, which is a very good thing. All said and done it took about 2.5 hours to assemble, but we were joking around and chatting a lot. Once assembled the music box worked perfectly and I really like that the tune seems unique. I was hesitant to spend $29.97 on a 3D puzzle but the fact that once assembled it becomes a decorative music box makes it totally worth the money spent. The kids took it home with them so now they have a nice memento of time spent with Grandma and Grandpa. We will definitely be doing more of these together in future. ... show more
