I've paid A LOT for good mittens for my kids. These perform almost as well for a fraction of the cost. After a while of real snow play (building, eating snow) they do get wet, but my kids hands do not get cold, so that counts in my book. Water resistant is not waterproof and it's hard to not have a mitten get soaked eventually if they are really playing in snow. What matters more is the hands stay warm. We constantly experienced our toddler's gloves and mittens falling off and were on the search of something because it is very frustrating to keep putting on mittens on toddlers. I love how these are long and can be tightened around the wrist preventing them to fall off while playing in the snow or just wearing them in general.
