Most of the weight is at the scooper, so it's not that heavy. The angle is adjustable. Doesn't scoop young chicken poop, but picks up most of the adult chicken poop along with any similar sized objects. You do have to get the angle of the scooper right to make it an easy job or you'll be losing poop left and right. Overall it's less of a back breaking job now. ... show more

So this tool is everything I was expecting it to be and more. (I actually thought the scooper part was made of plastic). So in that regard, I'm completely satisfied. The only issue I have is that I am 5'10 and it is a little shorter than I would have liked. I can see me having to bend over a bit to use it and I'd rather not have to do that, but for what it's worth, it's a good solid, mostly metal tool that will definitely be beneficial in keeping my coop clean. ... show more

This is a good size scoop for a backyard coop. It's probably too small or anything larger. The head is small, but manageable. It's noticably smaller than the standard shovel we were using previously. Using pine shavings, the slotted head does reduce the amount of waste.

This is a great tool for cleaning a chicken coop. I have sand in mine so this is just like cleaning the cat littler box just bigger. It is great and it works perfect. The best feature is you can give it the length you need and don’t have to have a bunch extra. A must have for any coop cleaner!

    • A bit flimsy
I actually needed a set just like this one as my old one with a wooden handle had broken recently. I was excited to try this one out since it could extend and have different lengths to it. Sadly, I was disappointed because it was a bit flimsy and did not work in my coop too well I couldn’t get the pieces to click together and stay together when I was using it ….and one of our coops holds 20 chicken another coop holds 10 - and it didn’t work well in either of the two coops ….so this might be better for somebody with a very small coop that holds just a few chicken ?Maybe it can’t have a work load that’s too large.? It’s a great concept but sadly it didn’t work for our flock … ... show more

    • Great for getting into the back of our coop
First of all, I will say this thing is awesome. We've always used a plastic cat litter scoop to sift our sand floor and the sturdiness of being made from metal is night and day difference. The scoop in the coop obviously picks up a much heavier load in the coop than a kitty litter box. I was able to complete the scooping in about half the time because I could "just go at it" and not worry about breaking the plastic scoop. If you're like me and have been using a cat litter scoop, stop playing around and get the right tool for the job. ... show more
