  • Great iron.. not the downsides I've read about
This is a great iron, despite some of the negative reviews. Either the company has updated the iron since some of those, or people just have unrealistic expectations. Here's what I found (as well as counter-point to some of the negatives): - Temperature control - it's a breeze. Synthetic is truly a mild heat, while cotton and linen are very hot. Perfect for every job - Water capacity - more than sufficient. I've ironed two full loads of clothes on high heat/medium steam (like 10 shirts, 5 pants/shorts) and still had plenty left in the tank - Filling the tank is pretty easy. Yes you do have to have the iron in the same position as if you're ironing, but with the large capacity tank I only have to fill before I start ironing. I have filled once during ironing and just did it over the sink.. no big deal - Easy to tip over - I don't find that's the case. It sits fairly stable and is about average weight Other things I like is how, when you swing the readout to fill, there's a little damper there that opens up. This closes when you close the readout making it an additional seal for the water reservoir. This iron cools so much faster than my previous one.. love that I can put it away within an hour or so of ironing. I also like the retractable cord; so convenient. If there's any thing I'd ask for is a cord that's about a foot longer. That would mean the iron would be bulkier to accommodate it, so I'm okay with it's current length. This was a great purchase.. I highly recommend! ... show more

  • Great iron.
Never heard of the brand and decided since we needed a new one this would or could be a good choice. Turns out it was the right decision. Iron presses well. Steam ejection is very good. Heating element is good. Lightweight and covers a nice territory as you roll over the fabric. Different temperature ranges for all kinds of fabrics. Sleek looking, storage of cord is great. No more wrapping the cord around the iron. ... show more

  • An Iron That Works
The iron has great heating power, impressive jet stream for the steam, self- cleaning, digital display, good spray and additional heat stream pulse. In summary, it is a very good iron. My only drawback, if I truly had one is that (1) my wife did not readily identify that the knob in the centre controls the digital display (well, I knew only because I read all of the instruction booklet), and (2) there is a 2-minute wait time when the temperature gauge is set and the iron is heating before same is made ready for use. ... show more

  • Hot, Powerful and Lightweight
I was a loyal Rowenta user for years. But because my last one, although highly rated, had developed a tendency to leak—a lot, I researched other recommended irons as a replacement. This iron was recommended by The NY Times Wirecutter column, also mentioning that it was not as heavy as other highly effective irons. It also noted it was hard to find, however Amazon had it! I am really happy with its lightness which is easier on my arthritic wrist and thumb. I am also thrilled that it goes so much longer before you have to fill it with water. It doesn’t leak, gets very not, and beeps when ready to use. The use booklet included in the box provides details on maintenance that is very useful. Price point is more reasonable than Rowena. So pleased with this purchase! ... show more

  • Good, for quilters, I think
This would be one I’d want to give 10 stars! Workmanship, function, LIGHT weight, easy functions, BIG STEAM,… the retractable cord a plus! So I give four-of-five but **ONLY for my esthetics**, (not that word is appropriate for an iron! Nor really an issue!). It’s just I’m more “girly”. As a quilter this is a BIG “guy” and not that pretty. (But still very light to use.) This looks sort of like “Darth Vadar”. (I’m calling him” Big-Ugly-Darth” = “BUD”.) My husband was so impressed when he first saw “Bud” and as a can-do-man–many-tools he thought “Bud” a wonderful tool. (Except, he doesn’t iron, but it’d been a good gift for him if he was interested in ironing, eh?) If CHI could make a more “girly edition” that’d be nice. That’s all. (I'd buy a light pink or light blue, clear water window!...) Note, just before I somewhat "rashly" bought “Bud” a good quilt friend bought a way more expensive, (over $200 w/ added warranty,) but *very pretty-pink* iron. I was envious but every review, (more than just Amazon,) showed this iron to be, like, a Grade C, even C minus or D. Even w/ warranty.Hmm… My “war-horse” Rowenta from circa 2004 was okay but the ‘teflon’ had chipped, blah-blah… I decide I need a new iron too. (We quilters can be so competitive, laugh.) So I researched and more… I was surprised the way-costly-pretty iron search rated too average BUT then every “follow-through” thread lead back to ‘Bud’! PRO: *30 minute *before shut off. BUT—it is a FAST RE-HEAT-UP! After any use ** where iron is fully heated then off” ** it is only seconds to get back to full-steam-ahead… By the time you realize BUD is off, (previously heated,) then re-turn it on and then lay fabric out you need to press = ALL READY! *Retractable cord.* I didn’t think I’d like this that much since I’m set-up to iron 24/7 but it is nice in that I can control the cord-play-out when I need to… (Dogs walking around the floor near cord = NICE.) *Sole plate MAGNIFICENT*… I put ‘Bud’ through heavy-starch paces and it cleans like a dream! **No stuff stuck in steam holes!** Like any Teflon or Ceramic you need to NOT SCRATCH it… Bud is safe because I learned lesson re “Teflon” on an earlier iron. I will take care… Stainless steel is way nice too… I think stainless it’s still sort of the best for smooth but this is nice. LIGHT WEIGHT & STRONG PRESS! You don’t need to go-over, go-over, & go-over way-big-wrinkly fabrics… BUD “steams them into submission” = one pass & wrinks gone! (I’ve not ironed any clothing item in 20 years but if you’ve got a big-wrinkly-shirt /garment I’m thinking you’ll be impressed.) (Seriously… IRON = heavy but “Bud” is just nice… it is like my old Rowenta… you don’t think of the wrist or finger pain that old gals get w/ “Bud”... others you do. CON Well, the looks… if you want a pretty-girly-iron… THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU WANT. Also the “red” of the water-fill area is sort of hard for me to see… but I figured out I can hold to light and see the water level. Sorry – the red is too dark… why not make it clear? The ‘pour hole’ a bit odd… but like one quilter-tip and I think a tip also from Amazon = get a WELL WASHED OUT old soap bottle, (squirt top,) and use that to load the water…A pour cup dumb... glad iron manufacturers gave up on them... "Bud" fills from gallon jug... just hard... This is too new to see if that odd ‘swivel’ vent for water will last. It looks like it could be ‘failure”. UNKNOWN Only a half-month in use, (some hard use,) but it seems like the company is responsive if you do have a problem? We’ve hard water and I have only used bought-gallon “Spring”-water for irons for a long time… I don’t know re any other water. But water can be an issue in irons... ... show more

  • Finally!
After going through several Rowenta irons and a very unsatisfactory Black and Decker, I stumbled across this one. I'd never heard of the brand, but it had excellent reviews on Wire Cutter and here on Amazon. Finally, I have a real iron! It's heavy. It holds a lot of water and it's really easy to fill. I can easily see the water level. The settings for heat and for steam are very easy to use and see. It does a terrific and fast job on cotton, and linen. If you just need to touch up a few things every once in a while, this is overkill. But if you sew or iron clothes and linens, you'll love using this iron. I'm very happy with this purchase. ... show more
