  • Perfect gig stand.
style: CH-06
While I had to "jimmy" a couple of the expansion holes just a bit because they were very tight, this thing is a lifesaver for my band. I bought an eight-light LED kit, and I was hoping to be able to fit most of them on this stand. No problem! The lights I got are too wide for all eight to fit under the T, so I install 4 on the bottom, and the other 4 on top. The LED lights are very light-weight, so I don't worry too much about the stand toppling. I do put EZup weights on the feet, just in case. I also try to tether the top to something secure, just in case we get a gust of wind. This stand is so easy to put up, and to take down. I just keep my lights installed on the top bar, as it's easy to transport back and forth. The T pops right off of the stand, then right back on again. It tightens with a nut that had a comfortable grip on it. EASY! ... show more

  • Buy another 1 if you got too much fixtures in you arsenal
style: CH-06
The media could not be loaded. I been researching a light bar for sometime and with reviews of plus and negatives I took the dive and bought it. My stand came in with all the parts and was somewhat neatly package meaning the original box had some little miss handling defects but was packaged into an Amazon box that was neatly boxed. Everything in the box was perfect and no damage in cosmetics and upon assembly I took note of other reveiwers to not to overtighten the wheel knobs and use the safety pins as the main stability. With all the lights fixtures I bought in a month and a 1/2 "See pics" I cant have all of them on of coarse do to the unit mounting distance points and balance weight. I really don't have any negatives of this stand as I mounted 2 moving heads and it didn't even budge, sway which I was pretty worried that other reviewers say that using moving heads would be unstable..maybe the ones I bought ain't to aggressive?. I like this Stand and with my collection of DJ lights are growing I'm already going to buy a 2nd 1 soon...erhh at this time its out of stock. ... show more

  • Good buy for the price.
style: CH-06
How much do you expect to get for $30? I think that this is a pretty decent stand for the price. The collars that join the telescoping sections are made out of plastic but have a metal nut embedded in each of them for greater strength. Still I would be cautious to avoid over tightening, especially while in storage. Each collar is equipped with a cotter pin on a cable tether - nice. The stand has 3 telescoping sections: 1 1/8 diameter, 1" diameter, 7/8" (Good to know if you plan to use and "O" clamp on the shaft. ) The crossbar has a square cross section. The 8 mounting points might be a bit of an exaggeration as each is only 4 1/2 " apart. This may make it impractical to use every mounting point unless you have very narrow fixtures. UNLESS You can alternate the mounting bolts to have every other one up or down, and mount half of your fixtures above the cross bar. You also have a 9th mounting bolt in the center top. Stability: At maximum spread, the legs form an equilateral triangle 3 feet (or 36") on each side. The crossbar is just under 40" wide. If you stay within the 50lb weight limit, you should be fine. Motorized lights would be best kept as centered as possible. I doubt that fixtures with moving mirrors (Derby etc...), would cause a stability problem. Spider lights would also probably be OK as they do not throw a lot of mass from side to side - UNLESS you have a spinning head type Spider light. (I would not recommend mounting a heavy moving head light on the crossbar - let's face it, if you are going to spend that much on a fixture, why not get a sturdier stand?) The more mass you are swinging around, the more likely that you are to set up a resonance and tip the stand. This would be especially true in a rhythmic, sound active mode. End caps: Each of the three legs is capped with a cheap plastic cap. Two of mine fell off in shipment, or while unpacking. While not a big deal you should plan on gluing them in place, or replacing them with something better. Scratching your, or someone else's floor would not be good. Summary - Excellent, inexpensive stand for PAR Cans, fixed lights, and minimally motorized lights (moving mirror types). You might get away with mounting a single moving head light, low down on the center shaft, close to the legs. ... show more

  • Perfect for what I need
style: CH-06
This review is for: CHAUVET DJ CH06 Lightweight Lighting Stand w/T-Bar (50lb Capacity) - Purchased for use with my band. Specifically for lighting dance floor with sound-activated party lights and a blacklight bar for an upcoming show. We have stage lights but needed something to throw some lights and color onto the dance floor. The DJ CH06 is a well constructed light stand for lightweight application. I do not believe that it would be wise to use this particular stand for heavy stage lighting, we have our own heavy duty stands for that. This is for lightweight use and is perfect for the job. The info says it extends to 12' but I only extended it to 10' 5" and it seemed just fine but I will be adding sandbags on the legs for a little *extra support* just out of an abundance of precaution and I will be positioning it in an out of the way location at the venue - out of the way as possible that is and maybe near a wall... Extended out to 10' 5" it was sturdy and not wobbly but even if it was a super heavy duty stand, I would still take the precautions mentioned above. Recommended? Yes. It is a very good value for the money for the correct application. Other reviews I've read seem to complain about it not supporting large lights and etc. The total weight of the lights I am using; 4 sound activated party lights, 1 blacklight light bar is approximately 6 lbs. And with that, I know that I can easily add more lights to it if need be. ... show more
