  • Chauvet BOB LED simulated flame effect with no heat
Style: Flame Effect
Chauvet BOB LED simulated flame effect with no heat. I purchased this unit hands down because of the lighting being LED ... I knew I'd be running it a lot, and I love LED lights. Most of the other reviews tell you basically what you wish to know, so I won't go there, what I do want to mention is WOW this is my favorite...you can make your own flames from the same silk used in this unit by purchasing it at Dharma Trading co. cut your own flames and presto change the look of your 'fire' anyway you wish. I cut a really 'flaming' design with lots of extensions or blazes, then I cut one similar to the one that came with it but smaller...I then combined (put them together) on a magnet strip like the one that came with it. That flame is awesome, it looks so real it's amazing. I let the little cut threads that just happens when you cut silk, remain and honestly they look like the sparks that often fly off a flame, they blow and catch a sharp light and you would think it was real sparks. I am very happy with my purchase and would recommend it even at what some called an elevated price...it is totally worth it. So easy to change the flame, and mine is very quiet. a strong fan that whips the flames even double layered as I made mine, with no problem what so ever. My flames reach as high as the one you get with the unit with no problems. If I decide to hang it, I will however paint the shell a low sheen black, not with a spray paint but will brush on a paint suitable for metal. My thoughts are now to build a tall planter to house the light unit to resemble a pedestal which I will cover to look like stone. This light makes you "think out of the box" as to what you can do with it. As you might see, I love mine. I purchased through Amazon, my favorite place to shop. ... show more

  • Its ok but its not “all-that”
Style: Flame Effect
The media could not be loaded. I guess i was expecting more. I love chauvet stuff. I have lots of it. We got these for our Halloween burlesque show. You can see the set in the video. I am not sure if these are real reviews because. Well. Its basic. Like. Yes. Its sturdy. Looks like s good design. The company makes good stuff. But just the idea of this silk flame. It does not look real. For us. Its cheezy and thats why we like it. Toung n cheek. Only kind of disappointed part besides some assembly required, is, you are not supose to hook it to a dimmer back even if its a switched and non dimming dimmer pack. A plus is. You can choose legs or to hang it. Im going to spray my two gold. Im not blown away becsuse of the nature of the product. But if its what you like its solid. Pa. Looks a lot beter in photos than real life. ... show more

  • Doesn't Do So Well In The Cold
Style: Flame Effect
Pretty well built and quite convincing as a fire effect. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is that It doesn't work so well in the cold. I needed this for a "campsite" themed Halloween yard display and thought this might make a good campfire. When this arrived I tested it out in the kitchen and it worked fine, but on the day (a very cold day) I found that when I plugged it in the motor made a whining sound and wouldn't throw enough air to make the cloth move. On a hunch I brought it back inside to warm up and it once again worked perfectly. The cold affected it somehow. Upon further experimentation I found that if I set it at just the right angle it would work, but it took about a half an hour to figure it out and once it was running I didn't dare shut it off for fear of not being able to get it running again. In the end it worked for the night and fooled a lot of people who were disappointed that they couldn't warm themselves by a fire. ... show more

  • The real deal
Style: Flame Effect
This was a gift for my boyfriend. We bought one previous to this and it was very cheap looking made all of plastic. This one is made of metal and looks like it will hold up for a long time. Flame looks pretty realistic. The downfalls are the black power cord and the fan. The power cord is black and thick so if you hang it (which we did) the cord draws your attention more than it should. The only way to turn it off and on is by unplugging it. There is no on/off switch, but we got around that by buying a remote control switch. Also the fan is a little noisy but I'm assuming they all will be a little loud because it is after all a fan. All in all I am very pleased and think this will be your best bet in flame lights. We have owned this for 4 years. It's still working perfectly. We use it frequently (almost every day) in the man cave. After 4 years the silk became a little tattered but a quick trim with scissors solved that issue. The fan seemed like it wasn't blowing as strong but the metal grate just needed a cleaning as with any fan. So very impressed. Update: after 5 years of constant use our flame light decided it had had enough lol. But we liked this specific one so much be bought another one and are confident it will last just as long as the last (with daily use). :D ... show more

  • Looks great on our Joe Buck Roast...
Style: Flame Effect
Set this up right out of the box for a Halloween scene (our Joe Buck Roast) Looks awesome! Then the fan motor quits...so I had to tap on the side of it to get it started again....worked for a while, then fan stops again.... Apparently something was inside of the protective grate covering the fan motor, after turning it upside down and shaking it, it worked free. We used this outdoors as a Halloween prop. At night time the flame looks real. There are orange and blue led lights shining on a silk cloth. The fan blows upward and the silk looks like a flame moving. The negative to this is the silk flame, small thin magnets is all that holds it to the unit. ... show more
