After a lifetime of using liquid detergents I made the switch to this. It’s been nearly 2 years of using this product, and I’m still amazed at how clean even my dirtiest laundry comes out. This is despite having a washing machine from the year 2000. Be aware you can’t use truly cold water with it (water less than 50F will not dissolve it), and that you may need to use the booster if you have hard water. What put me off from trying it for so long was the price. However, Charlie’s is far more cost effective than any liquid or standard laundry powders you can buy at the store. You only need 1T for a full load. I only use more for extraordinarily dirty items, and even that is rare. I use it on all my laundry: towels, dog beds/blankets, clothes, bedding, and delicates. It has no harsh detergent chemical fragrance that leaves you smelling like you frolicked through a chemical manufacturing plant. It just leaves clothes smelling clean. After using this so long I now absolutely can’t stand the smell of the fragrances in normal detergents (and softeners). ... show more

I have tried many different powdered detergents including Tide Free, Nellys Soap, and Arm and Hammer. Charlie’s outperforms each of these detergents. I love that you only need a Tablespoon, yes one Tablespoon, of detergent for one load (and often times I do not fill the scooper to the top). Secondly, Charlie’s has no scent which is wonderful because my family has noses that can pick up any little smell! It’s dissolved completely in the wash and never leaves residue on clothes. The bag lasts many months and that is with twice a day (sometimes more) laundry. When I used Powdered Tide, I would need to clean my washer with Tide laundry cleaner at least every six months (coincidence?). This product works great and I love that you get so many loads from one small bag. It is really good bang for your buck and it works well to clean my clothing. However, since it's an eco brand, I would have expected recyclable or compostable packaging, but they use plastic for both the bag and the scoop that are not recyclable. I was really surprised to see it immediately bubbling up as soon as the water in my machine began to fill. I followed the directions for cleaning my machine before using it on my clothes and that made a huge difference as well,as it removed the residue left from the liquid detergents. My clothes are so much cleaner every time they are washed with this soap. NOW if you are looking for a scent with your clothes this is NOT the to laundry soap for you. But your clothes WILL be clean and any odor from wearing is removed.
