This chandelier is definitely giving off some catfish vibes. Why? Because I totally thought it came with those cool bulbs in the picture! The fixture itself looks great, and the adjustable height is a nice feature, but I was a little bummed when I realized I’d need to buy the bulbs separately. Once you get the right bulbs, it’s a stylish addition to the dining room, but just know you’ll have to get those separately. Very nice black and gold light fixture. I think it'll look good in a kitchen or possibly a dining room. The assembly was rather frustrating but with some patients you'll get it. The threads are a bit difficult to line up but before you get to that, you'll have to try and stuff the excess wire into the base, which was a pain. I'm not too sure which light bulbs I want to use in it just yet. ... show more

Item: "Chandelier, 8-Light Dining Room Light Fixture, 4-Height Adjustable Chandeliers for Dining Room, E26 Sockets Dining Room Chandelier, Chandeliers with Stable Metal Base, Dimmable Black Chandelier" Price: $49.99 First let me say, the first bullet of their listing is comical.... the part that say (as an excerpt): "... The rods of our chandelier adopt black spray paint technology, which is durable and will not rust. ..." ________ SERIOUSLY?!?! First of all, "anything" can "adopt spray paint" but it might not look so good after. AND FOR SURE.... Spray paint does not ensure something cannot rust, but this is a lamp hanging from a ceiling, indoors, so it better not be rusting anyways. I just could not help laugh at this. The second bullet says "...angled ceilings available..." but the instructions explicitly say "Do not install lamp on sloping places" ... So which is it??!?!?! My answer is: Yes, sloping ceilings is ok. HOWEVER, and this is one of the reasons I'm giving it a solid loss of two stars: The "durable swivel" is ***VERY CHEAP*** and only "properly" swivels on one plane. You need to have it tight to be safe, and the joint only moves on one axis (See photo). Even on my level ceiling this thing needs to be "square" to look right but you only have one direction to swivel on, so the other plane you have to basically bend the base it hangs from, and it bends without trying. The bracket it mounts to bends too easily too. Their listing says its a "STABLE BASE" - this simply is not true. The material used is WAY TOO CHEAP. Next, the wattage written in the book (and this is funny too), "60W max halogen, CFL, and LED bulbs" Ummmmm.... you aren't going to be buying 60W CFL or LED bulbs. (60W equivalent sure)..... No one is going to use a halogen. Anyways, For 8 60W Incandescent bulbs, in a 120V AC accessory, this is about 4 AMPS..... P/V=I (thanks Ohms law), we have ((8*60)/120)=4. The length of cord is the 4' for the hanging distance, with 4 bulbs at 2' each, and 4 bulbs at 1' each, so there is over 12' of wire in the light tubes alone, more than 4' for hanging, thats at least 16' of wire, now double that to get over 32' of HOT+NEUTRAL return wire, with 4 Amps running through SOME of it, (its not going to be a series circuit), but this is still a lot of current for what appears to be 20AWG wire? Ultimately this is cheap. Very cheap. They did not use high quality wire nor parts (as can be seen in the listing and the photos), heck, they use spray paint haha, and NOWHERE does it say it is UL listed. It does a great job at putting 8 bulbs of light into the room. The Sputnik design is very unique (we like it). It deserves 1 star for not being UL compliant, especially with the thin wire and cheap material but using LED bulbs will be ok and the light output is awesome, so I'm giving it two stars. PS: The picture with smaller bulbs was taken with 8 60W incandescents, but I will be installing LED bulbs tomorrow, and recommend anyone that uses this to use only LED bulbs. It will not use anywhere near as much power and will be safer. Update (8/18/2024): The photo with larger bulbs is 8 E26 G40 11W each LED bulbs. These are 100W equivalent. (The original 60W photo used 3" G25 bulbs). These new bulbs are 5". I strongly recommend if you buy this light, use LED bulbs. And... take a look at the difference in the photos so you can see the contrasts with the larger bulbs vs. smaller bulbs, and the brightness difference. ... show more
