  • Beautiful color - Mermaid
Size: 16 oz Color: Mermaid
It was a little hard to tell exactly what color Mermaid would be, but I got what I was hoping for! It's an absolutely beautiful bright turquoise. This was my first time using chalk paint, so a few notes for other newbies: - You definitely need 2 coats unless you are going for a dry-brush look. - I've seen some blogs/ads oversell how much furniture you can paint with this, but it still was a good deal. I ordered 16 oz and just barely had enough for a desk and chair. - Buy some soft wax to finish it. The wax surprisingly was by far the easiest part. I just got the cheap SC Johnson Paste Wax and it looks great and didn't discolor it. - Buy a big paint brush or a roller for the chalk paint, but don't bother with a special wax brush. I used an old cotton t-shirt to apply the wax and it went on great. ... show more

  • LOVE the color! HATE the durability and scuff factor.
Size: 32 oz Color: Wolf Gray
Let me start by saying that I LOVE the color of this paint and the awesome color choices and variety. However, I must also admit I HATE how thick and difficult to cover this was and the durability of this paint. I followed all instructions as well as did two coats followed by a black wax stain and clear wax top coat, and this paint still comes off easily. I also had to buy two jars of this because I ran out of paint in the middle of my project. I painted and repurposed a dated orange oak 72" x 24" x 24" cabinet with a long glass door I painted with Rust-oleum Brand Mirror Effect mirror paint (see before/after pic in pic 1), bottom door and four interior shelves. I also painted an over the toilet cabinet to match that was 30" x 30" x 9" with one door and one inside shelf. I painted both the inside and outside two coats. Note: One 32 oz jar did not cover both pieces (states 32 oz covers three pieces), so I had to buy a second jar. In addition, the paint is super thick, so it was a bit of a chore to paint these. I got so tired that I had to thin down my paint with a bit of water to paint the inside of the tall cabinet easier. I recommend using an poly acrylic sealer to seal instead of wax if you don't want it scuffing easily. I had to touch up the large piece after carefully moving it because it scuffed so easily. That is frustrating to do when you also have to fix the wax stain on top. Last two pics are the Wolf Gray chalk paint without Annie Sloan's black stain or clear wax. will note that I have never used chalk paint or black wax before. Tip: Splurge and buy good brushes (specifically for chalk paint and wax) so the bristles don't fall out when applying the paint or wax. Bottom line: Beautiful color choices and finished product with some difficulty/effort to apply but not as durable as I would like which is disappointing. ... show more

  • My go to Base Paint!
Size: 16 oz Color: Wintergreen
I love all of 2 Chick’s and a toolbelt’s paint. The colors are great. I only have to use one coat to achieve a good cover. The color looks like the jar. You know how some paint looks lighter or darker? You can see how it looks on lightly sanded untreated wood. It is exactly the same color! It makes choosing what I am going to put on my work much easier. This brand of paint is the first kind that I have ever used other than a white or cream (i.e. colors) that I did not mix myself. All I had to do was shake the container to make sure the paint was well mixed and then I applied it to my boxes. Always before I would pour some into another container and add different amounts of red or yellow or blue until I achieved the exact shade I was looking for. It was difficult to make sure I made enough for the size box I was making and to put it in a container I could seal to keep it fresh to reuse so I could continue matching the current project. It was nearly impossible to recreate some of the colors I created. With 2C&AT Paints, that is no longer an issue! Their palette is gorgeous to boot! My only negative is that I don’t have enough $ to buy at least 8 ounces of every color they offer. I need to refinish to chests of drawers for our bedroom, and my only problem is choosing which color to use. You won’t go wrong buying this paint! ... show more

  • Love this color!
Size: 16 oz Color: Wolf Gray
I used this color to re-paint and bring a dresser back to life and it looks amazing! The color is a modern soft gray. The only thing is that it is easily stained. I accidentally stepped on the corner while i was moving the dresser and there was a stain on the dresser from my shoes so I kept having to retouch it up. ... show more

  • Beautiful and very bright
Size: 16 oz Color: Mermaid
Great coverage! I chose the mermaid color and in the first pic I posted is what the color looks like after 2 coats without any kind of top coat or wax. The second pic I posted is with a dark wax on top. I love the color after the dark wax was applied. The color itself is beautiful but a little too bright for furniture for my taste so the dark wax definitely toned the brightness of it down turning it into a beautiful furniture color. My customer was extremely happy with her finished table so I couldnt ask for anything more! ... show more

  • Not a happy painter!!!
Size: 32 oz Color: Paris Pink
Ok. I hate to leave a negative review. I have always used Dixie Belle chalk paint. Painted a beautiful Ethan Allen bedroom suit with their white chalk paint that belonged to my parents with a shiny top. It turned out beautiful and the paint smoothed out beautifully. No problems! But I saw this paint and thought I would try it! I am not happy! It is not adhering to the wood well on the shiny tops of my end tables as Dixie Belle did. Yes, I prepped it! It is not covering well even with two coats and I fear it will chip off or peel. Has in one place already. I wish I had not ordered this paint for it is going to be an aggravation as time passes I fear. Listen, I have painted furniture for years. I had a business and we sold many painted pieces in our colonial gift shop. So I am not a novice painter. But Dixie Belle chalk paint is just a great paint to use and I learned my lesson. Stick with what you know and don’t think all chalk paints are the same because they are not! ... show more

  • A novice can use 2 chicks chalk paint!
Size: 32 oz Color: Wolf Gray
Before, honey oak. After, nice wolf gray chalk paint. I'm a first time cabinet and chalk paint. So I opted to start in my laundry room. Now I have confidence to do my hall and linen cabinets, both honey oak today. I'm going to try hail white chalk paint on them. Easy, fast, and like that you can apply light enough to see wood grain but still have good coverage. ... show more
