  • Excellent OBD2 Meter
Color: Black
Aside from ease of use and the multitude of real-time measurements, the real beauty of this meter is you don't have to lookup the check engine code - it does it for you when you display the code(s). Also impressive is how many different "interfaces" it is able to connect to as I had an older one that could not read my 2005 Toyota Avalon. Every car I've tried this on works like a charm. Good meter and good value. ... show more

  • Plug and Play - Easy, But...
Color: Black
Luckily the unit is very easy to use and between YouTube and the internet in general I was able to figure out the acronyms and abbreviations used for the various systems it monitors and the results it gives you because the book is basically of no use in translating that. In fact, I couldn't find anywhere on any of the screens where the battery was being monitored, nor was it addressed in the directions, so I emailed their customer support to inquire about it. Other units I've used used terminology like "Battery Voltage" or similar terms but this has nothing like that. Anyway, to this day I have yet to receive a response from customer support but have figured out since that it does. You have to dive deep a little into the live data screens, I believe the sixth screen and there you'll find a line that says "VPWR". Apparently that's either your battery's voltage or your alternator's output. Again, nothing in the book tells you and customer support never responded to my inquiry. Still, even with this, and the fact that the unit arrived with the plastic screen detached from it and I had to glue it back in place, so far I like it's features and relative ease of use. ... show more

  • Already paid for itself, great value if you're the inquisitive type
Color: Black
The machine itself takes some time to understand if you're unfamiliar with odb2 codes. The manual isn't particularly clear but I was able to manage. You basically have to set your vehicle in it's memory and then it will pull the relevant codes for your systems' computer modules. Once those are in place you can run a scan and it will show you the problem codes. There's a bit of a description in the machine, but it's easier and more complete to diagnose with a search engine because you can usually find the exact or very similar case. This way, you also learn more about your vehicle's systems, which is great for me as I'm technically inclined but very new to car repairs. I bought this knowing it would come in handy someday, but my wife wanted me to return it given that there was no pressing need. I legitimately forgot (my return pile was moved during cleaning) and the return window passed. Shortly after that (as luck would have it) her 2012 Honda CRV engine light came on. That model is known to have issues with the gas cap. Specifically, the sensor has difficulty reading data and posts a "check gas cap" message to the dash display. This time, the odb2 code indicated a fuel evap problem. Knowing the former message was common I decided to replace the cap (~$16US for a nice-ish one) as a way to eliminate that as the cause. Sure enough the code cleared and no lights/messages for over a month. It has already spared us the cost of a mechanic's diagnosis, not to mention future potential of being swindled. For around $35 that's a no-brainer if you have the wherewithall and patience to work through some debugging. ... show more

  • Great use but not so simple
Color: Black
Simple enough, but not so simple you can figure out everything without looking up what the terms mean. A little redundant button layout but it took a little getting used to before it made sense. Saving trips and cost with mechanics.

  • CGSULIT SC204 OBD2 Scanner works Great
Color: Black
CGSULIT SC204 OBD2 Scanner works Great. I got this because I don't drive much, so I have a battery disconnect that disconnects the battery so not to drain. When you disconnect your battery or buy a new one and you go get a smog check you will fail it, because your vehicle wasn't driven enough to reset your vehicles computer. This is were the OBD2 Scanner comes in. You hook it up to OBD2 port in your vehicle, press the I/M button on the scanner and see if you pass smog if not drive for 35 minutes. Stop, press the I/M button and see if you pass smog. I it says you pass go get your smog test. It worked for me. ... show more

  • I could not get this to work!
Color: Black
I have a Toyota Rav4 2007. I plug it in, start the engine, and no matter what button I push (except power), this device scans the car and then displays a screen with a matrix of codes. As shown in 4-30 in the User's Guide on page 23. From there, no button makes changes the screen. I can get no other screen to show nor can I get any other menu screen to show up. I tried it on my 2018 Audi Q5 and it exhibited exactly the same behavior. I think this is either defective or totally worthless or both. Update: The company reached out to me for support. That showed good customer relations. I find that if the first thing I do after plugging in this device and starting the engine, is PUSH THE GREEN BUTTON, then things behave as described. I was able to identify my car's problem successfully. I have still deducted one star because the operations manual was insufficient to inform me of this when I read it. This in light of the fact that I am a technical professional and have authored numerous user manuals and product descriptions in my career. ... show more
