I have a Kindle Fire 8 and use it a lot. I was wondering if the paperwhite would be easier on my eyes than the glossy screen on the Fire. It turns out that the Paperwhite has a very soft matt finish, which keeps the room light from shining off of the screen and into my eyes. I have not tried this out in the sun yet. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I can change the font to the smallest size and read it with no problems or distortion. The brightness needed to be turned up some, but the results are beautiful to my eyes and comfortable for them as well. This turned out to be a great purchase and getting the refurbished model saved me a bit of cash that can be used to buy a few more books. That is a win/win in my book. ... show more

i love my kindle so much now that ive had it a couple months. i accidently got the version with ads ( a lot of the ads are spicy) I was able to get them removed without an issue. battery life is impeccable. i think ive charged it twice over two and half months? perfect dimmable backlight too!

This refurbished Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition is as described. It works as if it was brand-new out of the box. I only gave it 4 stars because I guess I'm used to my phone's touch tech. The Kindle seems to respond not the same and maybe it's just because I'm not completely used to it, but apparently I sometimes touch the screen wrong and one of the menus opens. I got a case so hopefully that will help with me to not inadvertently touch the wrong area of the screen. The one main issue I had was with Amazon customer service - I ordered the ad-free version. But when I powered it up, it had ads. I contacted Amazon customer service and they told me I would have to pay $20 to remove the ads but then they "generously" offered to remove them without charge. I felt that their response was patronizing and disingenuous. And I explained to them that I had already paid for the ad-free version. They did remove the ads and that process was quick. But I didn't care for the interaction. ... show more

I’ve stored HUNDREDS of books on this device, and it still has over 23 gb left to fill, It’s my new best friend. I’ve only needed to charge it once since getting it. One hundred percent user friendly and I recommend using the Collection option to put series together, authors, or just books you’d read over and over again. Perfect to read for 5 minutes between customers at work or several hours after you’re off, (this is a judgement free zone) this kindle is perfect for everyone wanting a little break from the day. from a mild sepia tint to a deeper parchment ( great in bright sun) this upgrade was worth every penny auto brightness, corner tap home screen and custom collections now appear in main Library....lovin' it !
