  • Good to start with
Color: Nickel Plated Closed Hole
I bought it 3 month back for my 8year daughter. She has just started getting lesson online. I didn’t want to spend lot of money as not sure if she will like flute and continue this instrument. We got in time. The bag has lots of things as stated in description. The sound quality is also good but not best as told by her teacher. she suggested to continue with this as beginner flute, no need to spend $1000. After 3 months I clearly see that Nickel polish is coming out and it looks red/black. Those flute bottoms which are used more have this problem. The place where you put you finger or hold it, has got spots. Which I never expected in 3 months of very normal use. My daughter plays it only 1 or 2 hrs in a week. And she is not expert. So use is minimal. I would give 5 start but the nickel problem is bad and flute will not look good in next 6 months. But sound is ok to start ... show more

  • PLAYS GREAT - Buy it for your Band kid.
Color: Silver Plated Open Hole
So I just literally took this flute out of the box, right now. Out of the box, it sounds great. I'm not having trouble producing notes, it doesn't feel like there are any leaks, and it sounds great (to me). Is this the best flute ever? No. Do I want a professional-grade flute? No. Do I just want to sit around at home and play some music from time to time? Yes. And this flute is more than good for that, from what I've experienced so far. The price was perfect, as well, and so far I'm happy. Time will tell whether my review changes. I bought a piccolo recently and went back to change the rating after I had played it for a few months, so we'll see how this flute is doing a few months down the road. Right now, do I suggest buying it? Yes. Absolutely. 1-month Update: I still like this flute. Seriously. Buy it for your band kid. 8-month Update: This flute is still kicking. I don't play it daily, but it's held up to some abuse and still sounds fantastic. BUY IT. 15-month Update: Still amazing. If you're still on the fence this long, make up your mind already. 3-year update: Why are you even still reading this? Still amazing. ... show more

  • PERFECT flute for band class and beyond
Color: Nickel Plated Closed Hole
Look at the price...I mean wow, I can't believe that Cecilio makes such a quality flute for so little. Me spouse plays the flute and she was impressed. Is it as good as a solid silver flute with gold tassels and neon lights? Of course not. But this flute sounds absolutely amazing and for a beginner, is hands down the way to go. Don't get me wrong, it doesn't sound, feel, or play badly at all and unless you are into flutes, you probably never could tell the difference. I am just giddy that such a nice playing flute, with case and accessories comes for such a nice price. Thanks Cecilio! Helpful? • Sound quality degrades after a bit
Color: Nickel Plated Closed Hole
This was a worthwhile purchase since I didn't know if I'd like to play the flute but since I did, I bought a new one for lots more. This one has some problems...once condensation builds up inside, you'll get about a good half hour before the tone takes a dump after that it slowly becomes unplayable, you get maybe an hour of practice before you have to swab it out to play more or it doesn't play AT ALL. The finish didn't like my skin and anywhere I touched it stayed blackish no matter how much I polished it. The reaction time is not so bad but the low notes are way more difficult to play and could be frustrating for a beginner but if you're just taking up the flute now and not sure you'll like it, it'll be worth the money. The case is a decent soft case. The stand and cloth are nice, I still use those. ... show more

  • While we wait on the Stradivarius of flutes…
Color: Silver Plated Open Hole
What better review then a letter to a mom who’s worried that this flute isn’t “the one”: It’s not meant to be the best flute in the world. Or even the best one for her. She wouldn’t even be able to recognize that flute right now. And neither would we. We wouldn’t know whether to pay $100 or $1000 and we might be tempted to think that the more expensive one is the better one. This flute is meant to buy her time. If she plays it for a year, she’ll know exactly what she wants out of her next flute and will recognize those characteristics immediately. And it might take a lot longer than that to find a good used flute. So now we can take our time with it and jump on a deal if we see one because she’ll be able to evaluate it in a way she can’t right now. I told her the same thing. Play this flute now. It’s great for you. And we’ll keep an eye out for the Stradivarius of flutes and jump on it when we find it. ... show more
