I love the size and price of this, but definitely not very durable. My 13lb cat fits with a lot of room to move. When I was lifting the side up from how it was folded, the plastic snapped… pretty disappointing, but it still functioned so I’ll keep it. I just wish it was made with more durable materials or didn’t have the venting on the longer sides that needed the plastic support. Also the metal bars are very hard to put in. The frame of this carrier is made of very thin plastic. Mine didn't survive shipping, although the packaging is quite nice. It is also smaller on the inside, and I suspect the given size of 17" length is from the outside. I do think that for a smaller animal, this would be a GREAT carrier. The extra head clearance is nice, and the zipper top opens quite far. They include two plastic bars for inserting along the left and right sides on the top to add to its strength, but plastic is just not the way to go. I'd have paid extra for metal. This is a great carrier for kittens of small dogs. The material is nice and durable. My only concern with a long trip would be the animal opening up the zipper.

This is a great sized carrier for my 7 year old cat. I needed a replacement carrier to take him to the vet when it’s needed, so this was a great replacement. Easy to put it together, however there is some flaws with the one I got. There’s some work down areas in the corner that make me question how long it will hold up before tearing. The metal rods don’t go all the way in either, so they stick out slightly. Aside from that, the carrier seems durable and works for my pet. I’m not sure how I feel about the strap, as it has plastic pieces that connect to the carrier. I’d feel safer just holding the handle at the top instead. This carrier is pretty nice, soft inside, and strap can be adjusted to be long which I appreciate. Pretty well ventilated, wish both sides had mesh for more airflow but overall great carrier!
