  • My go to dog food
Flavor Name: Chicken & Oatmeal Size: 4 Pound (Pack of 1)
THe organic kibble market is a little slim, and I am not a believer in grain free diets (humans and dogs have been eating grain virtually our entire existence). But, I don't like when arbitrary grains are used as fillers. This kibble does not have the common fillers found in some organic kibble and is a good percentage meat. I like the oatmeal because it's food-grade grains. I do mix it with Stella and Chewy's raw freeze dried and together my dog thinks it's irresistible. I think there is a lot of benefits to a raw diet, but it can get quite expensive and I think exclusively raw is a bit overboard, so this mixed with some raw pellets is a great solution. In a hurry or when I was waiting on an order of the raw brand I use, I have used this kibble alone (minus the dental health mix in) and she likes it just fine by itself. If you want a high quality organic dog food, this is the best I have found that is readily available at most retailers. Remember, dogs are like kids, if you let them eat whatever they want they will choose salty and sugary stuff. Even if you dog doesn't like this at first (sometimes dogs don't like the switch), it's important that you control your dogs diet. Dogs won't let themselves starve, but they will test you. So if you are committed to making a healthy change and worried they might not like this over all flavory filler junk in the main brands, make the switch and don't give them anything else. Withina couple of weeks they will salivate for this stuff like they do the crap stuff (that is made to make them addicted). That said, I have switched brands and flavors (used to use the tender and true, but they have a particular filler ingredient on my "not great" list relatively high up on their ingredient list) and my dog has never stuck her nose up anytime I switched to Organix. So five stars all around. High recommend the flavor WITH oatmeal. Unless your dog has a confirmed grain triggered allergy (far less likely than we are led to believe), this flavor has the best mix of healthy ingredients. ... show more

  • Her coat is beautiful and shiny
Flavor Name: Chicken & Sweet Potato Size: 4 Pound (Pack of 1)
Our dog does really well on this food. Her coat is beautiful and shiny, and she absolutely loves the food. The ingredients are top notch, and I found this food because of a website which lists top quality pet food, ranking this one among the best available. HOWEVER, I marked this brand a 3 because they keep shrinking the bags, and the price has grown incredibly in the last few years. It's a bit overpriced by vendors, particularly a certain big box pet store, but the bags have shrunk from 6-8 pounds to 4.4 pounds to 4 pounds in just a few years. The larger bags have also shrunk. STOP IT -- if it's a good product for a fair price (keep reading), people will buy it. While I did mention it being overpriced, I have a hard time believing that costs have increased THAT much in a few years to justify increasing the price 25% while shrinking the bag by greater than 20%. That's a MASSIVE price increase not even remotely tied to inflation. I am going to start looking for alternatives due to the reasons cited here. ... show more

  • GOOD NEWS No Longer Contains Unhealthy Salmon Oil!
Flavor Name: Chicken & Sweet Potato Size: 10 Pound (Pack of 1)
In 2020 I gave this a mixed review because of my concern over the salmon oil it contained.. As of 01/13/2021 I saw that that it has been eliminated. Thank goodness, for Pacific Northwest wild-caught salmon is no more, thanks to Fukushima. The only other commercial source left would be highly toxic farmed salmon from Scaninavia. As for concerns about pea protein, I only use this dry kibble for less than 1/3 of my dog’s diet. The rest is what I make at home. I believe that this is the best dog food on the market that is organic. ... show more

  • Real Organic Dog Food -- Expensive, But Worth It
Flavor Name: Chicken & Oatmeal Size: 18 Pound (Pack of 1)
Since we only eat organic food ourselves, we had grown increasingly uncomfortable feeding our dogs regular dog food ... even the high-quality brands are still made from food sources that are bathed in pesticides and other chemicals. And the niche dog food brands that say they are "human grade"? Well, that really doesn't mean much if it's not organic, because so much of our conventional human food is awash in chemicals and antibiotics. So we finally switched to the Organix line of dry and canned food (which we supplement with cooked grass-fed beef and our own chickens). Yes, it's really expensive, but we feel much better about feeding our dogs organically. It's just so much healthier for them. ... show more

  • Mixing it up with the No Grain
Flavor Name: Chicken & Oatmeal Size: 4 Pound (Pack of 1)
I'd been feeding my Westies no grain dry and wet food for over a decade and one suddenly began having issues with constipation and loose stool (two dogs, one had each issue) so I began making them a dish of oatmeal at bedtime - nothing mixed in, just water, and they loved it plus it brought them back into balance. Then I found this chicken with oatmeal blend and it's organic. I've been using Castor and Pollux dog food for about a year and the dogs seem to do well on it except for that issue mentioned above. So it's been about two months now and there has been a very good difference with both dogs. After the recent new medical information that came out about heart issues with primarily no grain foods, I think this may be a healthier alternative. I still feed them no grain organic wet food but with it this Chicken and oatmeal blend. Everyone is happy. So I recommend it. ... show more
