Description

From the Manufacturer Castle’s Sidewinder ESC, the leading 1/10th scale sport brushless ESC, is now waterproof. The new Sidewinder 3 can power crawlers on water filled trails, SCTs through rain soaked parking lots, and AWDs on rips across muddy fields. Drivers can follow their irresistible urges to drive in the mud or stomp their truck in puddles without damaging their controller. The Sidewinder 3 is a great fit for 1/10th off-road, on-road, and rock crawlers running up to 3S LiPo. It sports updated circuitry for faster response time and improved reliability. As always, the Sidewinder 3 offers industry-leading software functions and USB programming capability via Castle Link USB adapter (sold separately). The Sidewinder 3 offers world class performance at an entry level price.Although Sv3 and Castle brushless motors are waterproof, always rinse the ESC and motor with fresh water after exposure to corrosives or dirt. While the motor and controller may be waterproof, we suggest users confirm that the rest of their vehicle, including the batteries, servo, radio and chassis, are also waterproof before exposing them to liquids of any kind.

  • The ESC works well at 6 volts
This ESC worked very well on my 6 volt Springer. Some competing ESCs do not seem to work as well, or at all, at this low battery voltage. It was not subjected to water. It is probably worth the extra money if you need the extra performance.

  • Almost worth it.
This esc worked great, for 6 days then it stopped working. No throttle at all. No forward, no reverse. I replaced it with an old esc, the old one works fine. I thought it was going to be an exceptional upgrade for my axial Capra. It was, only for almost a week.

  • Nice little ESC for the money.
Great value ESC and the best part you can program it anywhere you go with just your controller. I have it in my SCX10 ii and have zero complaints good job Castle!!!

  • Doesn't live up to castle quality you might expect !!
The price was very good and the castle name, had to have it, but all and all it rates with the surpass ESC that I have in another RC.....

  • I have about 10 Castle-based products and I love them all
I have about 10 Castle-based products and I love them all. My top dog is the Mamba XLX in my Traxxas X-Maxx. I use this ESC in my 1/18th scale LaTrax Rally with their 0808 motor. Yeah, that is WAY overkill, but this ESC is very small, waterproof, and reliable. You should always have way more ESC than you need. That's the problem many people have in the hobby. They push their ESCs to the ragged limit and wonder why they fail. I use a Mamba Max Pro on my small 1/16th scale Rally and it runs cool all day long. Anyway, this ESC is awesome and Castle Link has come great tuning options. There are only two drawbacks to Castle ESCs. On ESCs with switches, their switches are absolute crap and they fail often. Occasionally their BECs can be a little iffy and Castle Link could be easier to use. ... show more

  • Worth the money definitely
Bought this because my old esc stopped working properly. I haven't tested in water yet but as it says it is water resistant. It is much slower than my old axial esc but this is for crawling which I prefer rather than speed, but since it runs lipo, I still have a good amount of wheel speed. I'd say 10mph with my current setup but I will buy the castle link and toy around with the parameters. You'll need a new battery plug or use the one from an old esc like I did and solder the connections. I will also add that while speed decreased, the torque increased and still gives me the ability to cut donuts and such. Would buy again ... show more

  • Very nice set up for my AX10, just a couple things to note.
Very nice ESC for the money, works great in my AX10 crawler. Couple things to note when using this thing... 1. You'll need to purchase battery connectors to match what your RC is using. (I used Deans connectors) 2. You will need to either solder wires, or purchase bullet connectors to connect your motor to this ESC. Wire and bullets are not included with the ESC. 3. You do not need the Castle Link software package to make this thing work,.... But it is worth every penny ($25.00) to set up the ESC. I'm running an old school, non-lithium battery, and brushed motor and the software made the changes I needed to make to the ESC a breeze. A couple clicks and you’re done. There are so many options in the programming of this thing, it’s a blast to change settings and see how the truck handles differently. Highly recommend! ... show more

  • so good with the new sidewinder esc
So far, so good with the new sidewinder esc. I bought it for my son's mini e revo. It fits well with a little modification and moving to the other side (where the receiver comes stock). It doesn't come with any connectors or a fan. But, if you look at the picture and read the description, you'll see that's exactly what it shows. I prefer to solder my connectors and I have fans and a programmer already. So, this was the perfect combination at a great price. The shipping was on time and it came in the original packaging. I would recommend this product and seller to anyone. ... show more
