  • Fantastic Watch
Color: Black
February 28th, 2024 (after ~8 months): I own 17 Casio watches, some GShock, non-GShock, Fitness models, some with vibration and some not, and without a doubt this is my favorite Casio GShock (+ fitness) to date. The app is OK, not flashy but it works, and it works fine for me, so don't get the negatives. I'm pairing it with a Samsung S23 Ultra if that helps. Overall this is a fantastic watch. I've worn it every day since July 7th, 2023, and I never take it off; sleep, shower, swimming pool, yard work, exercise, etc. So far, not a single problem. It's seems as tough as any of my other GShocks. I don't treat it differently so it gets knocked around a bit sometimes. Battery power is outstanding compared to any other smart watch or fitness watch I've owned, and I've owned many. I get around 1 month on a charge if I turn off notifications and/or limit notifications to only the ones I deem important, and I'm sure I could stretch that more if I disabled more features. If you're familiar with any of the GShock Fitness watches, even before the Casio Watches App, you may find the watch menu functions intuitive, and it was pretty easy to pair and setup with my phone (ymmv). The button setup is great and they're easy to activate/push, even with gloves. Excellent backlight and superb visibility day/night thanks to the MIP display vs the older Segment LCD Casios. I've tested all the features and use some regularly and no issues. In case this is important to you too, this watch has excellent vibration features, and vibe is essential for me (hearing loss). I use vibe for all sorts of things, and if you're a gamer (or not), and even if your hearing is fine, based on your home device setup, you could for example have this vibrate for security camera notifications, door bell, phone calls, etc., w/o needing to have your phone nearby or getting a display popup and that's ideal with headphones on. Whole lot more of compliments I could give; looks, size, band, weight, etc., all excellent imo. Much praise and very pleased with this watch. ... show more

  • Great Watch Okay App
Color: Black
I'll start by saying that I'm a big fat of GShock watches. I have several and all have been terrific. Good blend of style, size, durability and functionality. Of course not a dress watch, but a sport looking timepiece. I've had the GBD-H for about one month and I'm impressed with all of the features. Keep in mind that I was not looking for a fully smart watch, but a fitness tracker that I could wear everywhere (Mtn Biking, Diving, Swiming, Surfing, etc.) and not worry about. Fitness tracker and features have been very good and the App is also okay once you get used to it. This will take about a week to learn navigation, functions, setup, reporting of functions. For me this is a perfect watch/fitness tracker with some basic smart features (notifications mainly). Look: It's a GShock Battery Life: Excellent (solar + batt). Use normal features for about 2weeks between charges Ease of use: Very Good Functions: Excellent Comfort: Excellent Fitness Features: Very good (I use biking, Running, Workout mostly) Polar fitness features on app are good Highly Recommended ... show more

  • Great Watch, Not So Great Pedometer
Color: Black
First the good. This is a great watch, with typical G-Shock durability (so far). The watch face has the best readability of any watch I’ve ever owed. It fits very nicely, and I can't feel any of the sensors on the back when wearing it. This watch has TWO batteries, the solar battery for most of the features including the pedometer, and then the rechargeable battery for the remaining features (those features which consume more power). The solar has provided more than enough power for the main features, without any issues. The rechargeable battery has kept its charge FAR longer than expected, having only had to have charged it once over the past 6 weeks (yes, you can keep it connected with your phone 24/7 without the rechargeable battery diminishing noticeably). Although this isn’t connected with the Atomic clock signals like some other G-Shocks, it really doesn’t need to be, since it is connected with the app which has the ability to correct any slight timekeeping differentials. I’ve had no problems with the time features, the changing of the watch face (done through the app), the Bluetooth connection with my phone, the charging of the separate Bluetooth battery, or most of the sensors (the Heart Rate, Blood Oxygen, Compass, Altimeter, and Barometer have all worked perfectly so far). Now the bad. The pedometer is not accurate at all. I have had numerous occasions when the pedometer has not counted my steps at all, despite wearing the watch tightly on my wrist as per the instruction manual. When comparing the step count to my Fitbit, the G-Shock registers between 10% to 35% fewer steps, depending on the day, with the G-Shock ALWAYS registering a lower step count (biggest step differential was 1,800 on the G-Shock and 5,000 on my Fitbit). In testing, with both my G-Shock and my Fitbit equipped, and watching the step count on both as I walked around on sidewalks, the Fitbit was almost perfect to the amount of steps I was taking, while the G-Shock would miss steps regularly. I've now tested the G-Shock vs both manual counting of steps and my Fitbit numerous times on different days, with different shoes, and even barefoot, and every time the G-Shock has registered fewer steps than actual. If the G-Shock was consistent in its reduced step count, I could easily calculate the displayed steps vs actual, but since it is inconsistent, I have found that it is only a general indicator of total activity, not something I can rely on for precision. The sleep tracking function (called Nightly Recharge) has been completely useless so far, not registering any data, even when following the instructions in the manual precisely. I don’t really care about this feature, but if you’re going to offer it, it really should work. The app that is used to connect the watch is okay, but not great. Changing your daily step target is ONLY available through the app, and it is NOT in an intuitive location (instead of being in the “My Watch” section with all of the other settings, you have to go to your User Profile in the app to see or change your step target). In the My Watch settings you can either remove or add displayed features on the watch by deselecting or selecting different options, but this causes the features to be reorganized each time you do it rather than going back to the feature order it had when it was fresh out of the box. Overall I do like this watch, and have kept it despite its flaws. I do hope that Casio addresses the accuracy of the step tracker, as that is the biggest flaw. I also wish that Casio would substantially improve the app, as it is not very user friendly, even for those of us who are tech literate. It would also be nice for Casio to add some more watch face options, such as one that shows the steps in a larger font (just like when you select the Life Log feature, but leaving that on the screen all the time without swapping back to the main screen after a couple minutes). ... show more

Everything works very well. The screen is clear and easy to read It's not heavy and the battery lasts 4-6 days depending on usage.
