Description

Born from a dream of "creating a watch that never breaks." It was over 30 years ago, a CASIO engineer won the battle against the laws of nature. He designed a watch that would resist centrifugal and impact forces, as well as high water pressure. Since then, the name G-SHOCK has become a byword for independence and pushing the limits. G-SHOCK watches are the most durable digital and analog-digital watches in the industry, trusted by military personnel, law enforcement, surfers and outdoor enthusiasts around the world. Along with this, G-SHOCK is highly touted in the fashion world, worn by icons in hip-hop, sports, and design. With limited edition collaborations being released often, you can always find a G-SHOCK that matches your personality and style.

  • A great daily G-Shock/Watch
Color: Standard
This watch has everything that one could need in a daily watch. Things I like: 1. It has an alarm, stop clock, and a countdown timer. I know that it may not have dual time but sometimes it's good that it doesn't have that if you do not need it. But what's great is that there are other G-Shocks that offer dual time. 2. This watch looks/feels beefy but not overly beefy. It does look like it can take a couple good hits and survive. 3. The price. $54 for a watch with more features and more durable than a couple thousand dollar luxury watch? Yes please! 4. Set up and changing the times are pretty easy. Though I would recommend watching a Youtube video. 5. Easy to mod. If you are not a fan of the color of the bezel and strap, you can go on eBay or other website and buy cheap mod parts and change the watch to match your style. Things I do not like: 1. The only thing I am not a fan of are the 3 circles above the time that show the seconds. They could have removed it and made the display bigger so the numbers are bigger and/or show more information. Other than the 1 thing I do not like, it is a great daily watch for both the outdoor and even the office. ... show more

  • A Classic That Stands the Test of Time
Color: Standard
There are already so many reviews so I'll just put a few bullets on what matters most IMHO. Pros: - Built tough. I've previously owned this watch and abused it severely but it kept on ticking. - Inexpensive. I wear this on the weekend and never take it off while working on my truck, mowing the lawn, swimming, biking, climbing rock... and never feel guilty or worried. - Nice design. With its mostly all-black, tough design you can wear it with pretty much anything casual from jeans to shorts to whatever. - Big. With its rubber casing measuring a full 45mm at its widest you can feel confident this watch can handle virtually all the bruises daily wear will dish at it. - Classic but still cool design. Has 3 round dials at the top that don't do much of anything except maybe count seconds but makes the watch nifty looking. - Rubber resin band so will not scratch most delicate surfaces such as your laptop, Kindle... your girlfriend's neck ;) Cons: - Virtually unchanged since the 90's. As mentioned above I had owned several copies of this watch way back in the 90's, I've since moved on to the Citizen Eco-drive Aqualand line but needed an inexpensive watch that I can abuse on the weekend. I'd rather tear up a Casio than tear up a Citizen watch that costs 10 times as much. This watch still has small recessed metal buttons while other G-Shocks have bigger, rubber buttons that are better as far as waterproofing goes IMHO. The old version did have a metal band loop however, this one has a plastic loop. - Dim backlight. The light that comes on when pushing the "G" button is weak, typical LED brightness would be nice. This backlight was updated from the 90's version thank goodness, it's now blue backlight instead of the tiny, dim, yellow light from just one side of the watch on its earlier design way back in the day. - Dies with battery. For whatever reason back in the 90's when the battery was exhausted and a new lithium battery was put in this watch would never come back on. Lets see how this specific one fares. • Great Watch!
Color: Standard
Love the looks of this watch; rugged and simple. You could say I'm upgrading to this from a GW500A. Reason is because I bought the GW500A in 2008 and in 2010 the battery started dying on me. The thing is it's solar powered and figured I'd never have to buy batteries again. Unfortunately I was wrong and found out it used rechargeable batteries that do tend to die out. The battery was going to cost $20 and up (CTL1616). And to pay that much every two years or whenever it dies, just didn't appeal to me. I also tried non rechargeable CR1616 as a replacement but it started dying again after 4 months. So I decided to look for a non solar g shock and found this. The batteries are cheap too; under $4 (CR2016). The other G-Shocks were too expensive, didn't look as great to me and/or just had features I didn't need. Anyway onto this watch. Looks and feels great. Not too light, decent weight to it and doesn't feel cheap in my opinion. The casing definitely feels like it will do it's job protecting this thing, as most of them do I'm sure. I like the dials on top. The first two on the left represent 5 seconds (each), and the third represents every 10 seconds. Pros: -The digital layout looks nice, numbers have a nice font to them. -Just have to easily push the adjust button to adjust settings, not hold it. -Alarm buzzer with light flash is catchy (can be turned off). -Alarm buzzes for 20 seconds. -Countdown Timer. Some of these aren't really cons (to me anyway) but just a heads up for future buyers: -Strap latch and buckle are plastic. Seems durable though. -Adjust button is a little packed in there compared to the other buttons. Safety feature I suppose. -Only one alarm (a snooze feature would have been nice). Although there are different alarm types: daily, specific date, 1 month alarm, and a monthly alarm. -Year doesn't show (just day and month + day of the week) unless you're in adjust mode, but not a big issue. -No automatic EL Illuminator, but you can hold the light button for as long as you want and it stays on until you let go. Stays on for 2 seconds once let go. And last, this is actually a con to me and an annoying thing, when you're adjusting settings and you pass up a number you wanted, you can't go back. Just have to move forward until you hit that preferred number again. Overall I think it's a great watch and worth the buy. If you're looking for a simple watch with good looks and will last for years, I see no problem in getting this. UPDATE: 5/24/12 It has officially been a year now and the watch is still working like it was before! Been through the usual everyday wear and tear, doused in gasoline at one point, and the battery still works great. Although, a few months into it, the beeping all together stopped. So I popped open the case and it turns out the spring was just a little bent and wouldn't make contact with the crystal. I simply just flipped it around and all was well again! Great watch! ... show more

Have for two weeks. Exactly as advertised. Believe a good value for money. G-Shock reliability. Offers day, month and date. Fits my wrist well. Good, inexpensive time keeper. Basic but all I need.
