  • Great financial calculator
Style: FC-200V Calculator
I bought this because I'm currently taking a finance class at a local university. Compare to the older model of Texas Instruments BA II calculator that I owned a couple years ago, this Casio FC-200V is much more intuitive. For example, when I try to calculate TVM, the Casio displays all the input fields on screen so you can enter values like you do on a PC. Also, when you enter a calculation, you see the all the numbers display on the screen (i.e. "10+20+30x40"), so you can verify all the inputs after you finish pressing all the keys. This Casio is powered by both the solar panel and a backup battery. So when you're in a dim environment, the battery will kick in and still allowing you to use the calculator. The keys are easy to press and the layout are user friendly. One reviewer mentioned that Casio doesn't display comma to seperate 1,000s, this may cause some confusion if you're doing a lot of calcuation with a lot of zeros. I don't find this to be a problem at all. The only bad thing about Casio is that I wish the size is a little bit smaller. I don't understand why didn't Casio use the form-factor as its other smaller scientific calculators. It would be nice if I can put this calculator in my shirt's pocket without exposing 1/4 of its head. Overall, I think this is the best financial calculator currently available. I highly recommend it if you are ok with the 1,000s' comma and the size (which the Texas Instruments' BA II is NOT any smaller in any way.) ... show more

  • The Financial World
Style: FC-200V Calculator
A calculator is a excellent tool to solve many math problems. Taking a math test is quicker to find the answer. The financial calculator helps to solve simple and compound interest;but survey of math, a class that is being taken in college gives formula to solve financial problem. Which is the best way, a math formula will produce a better grade and the financial calculator will give good answers. What it comes down to is what is the financial calculator used for, In math class the answer could be a little off (like a dollar off), In a financial class it will give a correct answer. Solving car loan for monthly payments, a financial calculator will be an excellent tool. This financial calculator seems to have a better understanding on how things work when filling in the blanks (simple interest, compound interest) This tool is a great helper. It does math problems as well, however it want take the place of a scientific calculator, but it serve it purpose for life financial complication. ... show more

  • Perfect for Personal Finance class
Style: FC-200V Calculator
Purchased this calculator for my class and I have never used a financial calculator before, so I wanted to buy one that was easy to operate. Our instructor told us if we are not finance majors there was no need to buy the TI BA II plus. I am not a finance major and only taking this class and maybe another. If you are in the same situation, or looking for a calculator to use for your everyday finances I would get this one over the TI BA II plus, because it's much easier to operate. I've tried that one during class too and I have to say, I'd pick this one over the BA II any day. Formulas need to be entered into the TI BA II by hand one by one (for this you have to know the formulas by heart) vs. the Casio, where you have all the basic formulas programmed for you. You just have to fill in the empty spaces and hit EXE, then calculate. That's all. Super easy. I also own the Casio fx-115ES scientific calculator which I also love using and comparing the two, I would say this finanncial calculator is about the same as far as quality and ease of use go. Hope this review helps you to pick the right calculator for your needs. ... show more

  • Good tool for doing quick financial analysis
Style: FC-200V Calculator
I like the product. Currently using with a financial analysis course I am taking and does the job it was purchased to do. Easy to learn, accurate, flexible in doing several iterations to do 'what-if's' by changing variables. I do not do trig so I have no idea how that works. Chief usability feature - the screen is big enough to show the data as you set up the problem. It is a good product at a fair price. Solar charger and I have not had it long enough to know how long a charge lasts. ... show more

  • Great calculator but different than most.
Style: FC-200V Calculator
I'm studying finance and purchased this for my first finance class. It works great. The solar backup is convenient and gives me peace of mind during exams. This also has a much larger display than other brand's financial calculators. The only thing I would caution people about is that it is unlikely many of your instructors or fellow students have a Casio calculator, which means you'll need to spend a bit of time independently figuring some functions out. ... show more

Very, very, very, difficult to use, directions are for geniuses... to difficult to understand and make work. Waste of money for the average person. Must be a financial genius in order to use and understand.

As a student, it is a lifesaver in finances class. Though it takes some time to learn how to use it, once you do, everything gets easier to calculate.
