  • Doesn't sound super healthy but seems to pump well.
Overall it's quiet but it doesn't sound super healthy...can't quite put my finger on why though. Seems to pump well enough. I mounted on my frame as close to the fuel pickup as possible. It did not struggle to draw fuel up out of tank and through an inline filter on the first go. I tested pressure at the front of my vehicle (1986 Chevrolet C30 Single Cab, so about 6-7 feet away from the pump). At full, unrestricted flow through 3/8" fuel line it held about 1-1.5 PSI. When I kinked the line and completely blocked flow it shot up to ~6.5 PSI and held steady. Should be plenty for my Edelbrock 1407 Carb. Seems like it's gonna be fine other than sounding a little funny. If it fails early, I will report back. ... show more

  • Mount close to fuel tank
Brought a faucet dura lift pump and did not do the job.replaced it with this Carter and works perfectly.Do not mount it upside down,as someone else did in the reviews and then complained it leaked.

  • So far so good
It’s says carter but made in China. Hope it lasts

  • Follow MOST of the instructions
Instruction say not to use thread sealant (dope, not tape) otherwise you’ll void warranty. I put pipe together for a living. I know the threads are supposed to seal and theoretically it’s possible, but you’ll likely break a fitting before you get tight enough. Use a fuel-rated sealant like Locktite 592 or Permatex High Temp, keep the dope away from the first couple threads, bury the fittings in the pump, give it a couple days and it won’t leak. If you don’t, and it does leak, you’ll be saving the warranty on your $50 fuel pump but burning down your car. Your call. ... show more

  • Good
I don’t recall any fusing or blood when my husband installed it. Always a good sign

  • Works as advertised
Hooked inline from the tank on an '87 Tiffin Allegro RV with 454. Works great and very quiet. Just a slight hum. Old pump caused engine to starve and run lean. This fixed the problem.. when the qudrajet kicks down this pumps plenty to keep the bowl full. Pumps alot of fuel. Also used it to empty tank before installing. Fills a 5 gallon can in about 2 minutes. ... show more

  • Not made in USA
This fuel pump is now made in China. Appears to be cheaply made compared to their old ones. Mine is going on a custom build so it'll be quite some time before I try it out.

  • Using this pump as a boost pump to send WVO from my tank to the engine.
I run an old benz on WVO and I have a very, very weak lift pump. I installed this pump as an auxiliary boost pump to help push the heavy WVO from the back of the car to the lift pump up front and so far it has worked very good. The only problem I have experienced so far is that the pump is a little noisy. You can hear it buzzing inside the car. Maybe it won't be so loud when the weather warms up and the oil is thinner. I can add a sump pump heater just before the pump to heat the WVO before it goes into the pump and I am told it will help with this problem, and will also take some stress off of the pump, but will decide later if I want to tackle this. If the pump fails prematurely, I'll be forced to. I also had an issue during a sever thunder storm. I went through a huge puddle of water at a fair rate of speed and the spray of water from the back tire knocked one of wire leads from the motor and I found myself stranded on the side of the road. The wire leads simply push on to the motor lead posts and I feel there needs to be a better way to secure them. When I get up under the car again, I'm going to seal them with some silicone to help hold them tight. ... show more
