there’s really nothing to dislike on this jacket! i’m 5’11 215lbs and i got an XXL. it fits nice and warm and i wear sweaters underneath for those freezing days. i’ve warm just a t shirt or long sleeve under this and it’s nice and warm and insulated. 10/10.

About to move to a much colder climate and I knew I wanted Carhartt brand since I knew I'd be spending more than I usually do on a jacket and wanted something that would last a REALLY long time. As someone who is Nonbinary and leans toward a more masculine aesthetic, I mostly wear clothing that's labeled as mens but was worried about the men's sizing for Carhartt jackets (I'm short so coats and pants are hard to find that fit well) and assumed their sizes would run a bit bigger since it's a work brand. Since the women's clothing were not super femme I took a chance on the "Utility Jacket" which is also called the "Montana" jacket on Carhartt's website. PRO's: It fits me great with just a little bit of room but it's got flexibility throughout if you need to move around a lot. I got sizing based on their chart: Large and I'm 5'4'' about 170lbs. I love that it's not 'fitted' like a lot of women's jackets where they usually cut in around waist and then flare out toward the bottom, but I imagine if I were curvier in the hips that I might not like how straight the bottom 1/3 of the jacket. The jacket is soooo warm but so far not too warm that I feel like I can't wear it if I move around (although it is hard to keep on in the car). I've been outside only for short periods of time in lower 30's deg but I was completely protected- ESPECIALLY with the hood on, I don't even think I'd need a beanie or scarf. The sherpa on the upper back and in the hood are very warm- I wonder if the sherpa was all the way down the back or at least on the chest it would be even better... although that wouldn't leave the possibility for layering. CON's: I actually sent back the first one I got because the zipper kept getting hung up on one place and I was afraid it was going to eventually get really stuck or break. Got a new one and the zipper is working great now. A little disappointed that the zipper isn't more industrious from Carhartt- it's a rugged plastic, but I would prefer metal. Also another thing I noticed on the replacement jacket I received is that they must've already done some design adjustments on this model because the inside of the pockets on my first one were completely lined with a flannel-feeling material which was extremely warm; but on my new one only one side of each pocket is flannel and the other side is the nylon material on the rest of the inside of jacket. Another design negative is that while the jacket is REALLY REALLY warm, the only place I can feel cool creep in is along the entire zipper. I think a buttoned zipper flap should've been on this jacket which would fix the issue. And the last thing I can think of is that I wish there were actual cuffs built into the jacket- there is something that feels like a bit cinched around the wrist area that minimizes air coming up into the sleeve, but I would much prefer a defined elasticized cuff. Other than those things, I really love this jacket and definitely plan on getting more Carhartt jackets in the future for other temps/outdoor/work uses. ... show more
