Description

Digitally remastered two-fer containing a pair of albums from the Funk outfit: Cardiac Arrest (1977) and We All Know Who We Are (1978). Their excellent debut album, Cardiac Arrest, was highlighted by four singles. Three of those hit the Billboard R&B chart. We All Know Who We Are crept into the Top 60 on the mainstream chart and 15 on the R&B countdown. The single "It's Serious" not only gave the band a Top 20 R&B hit but also got onto the all important Dance chart, hitting 21. Cameo would of course go on to bigger things as the 1980's opened up, getting no less than eight gold discs and one platinum disc in America. 15 tracks. Cherry Red. 2010.

  • Cameo Put the C on the Funk
In the 70's there was funk, and there was the Cameo sound. Like some other funk bands, Cameo placed their own distnctive stamp on the funk genre. This flavor was just right for my listening tastes. I first heard Cameo when 1977 radio played the track "Funk Funk." From that time, I was hooked on Cameo's interpretation of Funk music. I love their slow jams, "It's Over" and "Why Have I Lost You." To sum it up, I favor the early albums of Cameo more than their later works, in which they branched out into the New Wave/Punk Rock genre. Notwithstanding, Cameo still produced high-quality songs, ie: "She's Strange," "Single Life," and "Word Up." It's just that I'm from the Funk era. ALL the tracks on this double-album CD represent that era very well. ... show more

  • albums #5 through #8 are Cameo's best in my opinion
........... Gr8 stuff here ("C On The Funk", "We All Know Who We Are", "Post Mortem", "Why Have I Lost You", "Funk Funk", etc.), but if you go past these first 2 albums & the next 2 after that ("UGLY EGO" & "SECRET OMEN), albums #5 through #8 are Cameo's best in my opinion... Those are from 1979 to 1982: 1979) "CAMEOSIS" 1980) "FEEL ME" 1981) "KNIGHTS OF THE SOUND TABLE" 1982) "ALLIGATOR WOMAN ....... All four of these are rated 5-star in my opinion... If I could rate 6 stars, I would........... ... show more

  • Still feels good to me
Wow these hits remind me of house partys, rollerskating and kickin it. Still feels good to me, funk funk, post mortem and rigor mortis were gangster dancing in 1977. We partied in the Oakland Ca hills off these. Rollerskating off of Its serious at Rollerena and the Mojoe. This Cd is a must have for all Cameo fans they really put the C on the funk ... show more
