Considering that this was one of the lowest price canopies it is surprisingly strong. It was easy to put set up and take down - kind of like a large umbrella. It took us 5 minutes and I could even have done it alone if need be. We have it covering our hot tub and it works great to keep off the hot sun and keep leaves out of the water. (we use the hot tub as a plunge pool in the summer). Certainly if a strong wind comes it will likely go airborne if not staked down but we just lower the legs on windy days and so far so good. So this canopy is great for warm weather, but is a no go if you have snowy weather. Here in the deep south snow is a once in a blue moon type of thing. The first and only light snow that we got caused the canopy to warp and collapse. The poles are horribly bent and mangled and the cover is ripped to shreds. So, if you live in a cold climate, don't even bother purchasing this. It'll only leave you with a sad ending to your happy snow adventure. RIP canopy. ... show more

When assembling; it went up with ease. Three of us were able to put it up without any struggle. The day we proved it; there was wind and light rain. It withheld the wind without toppling over. We did not have any weights; but will invest in some with how windy it gets here. There were not any leaks either when the rain came through. This is a very good shade covering that we bring to the beach all the time. It’s sturdy, worked great in light rain, and collapses to a fraction of its fully-open size. The one drawback is that it is heavy, so dragging it over the sand is a challenge, and it is easier to put up and take down with 2 or more people - it’s tough as a solo act. ... show more

Don't buy it. It looks OK. When I assembled it, I felt that the quality of this thing was not very good. Sure enough, it has not been two days, its bracket broke in the rain even the rain is not big. I spent $80 on it that I only used for two days. Waste my time to return it back. Don't buy it

Very disappointed with This Company. I purchased this canopy for use outdoors.We were at a game and were using canopy to get some shade. We used the stakes that came with the Canopy and were sitting under it when a slight wind caused it to fall and become damaged. I contacted the company CARAVAN because the canopy was still under the 2 year warranty. I was told first that the product was discontinued. They offered me a 10% discount on the purchase of a new one. I told them that I could not afford a new one and requested a refund. Was then told to contact Amazon for a refund. Told them that it was past the return deadline for a refund, so I asked for a similar product. THEN AND ONLY THEN was I told that the warranty was void because the canopy was damaged by wind. You knew that when I submitted the warranty claim because I said it and sent pictures., but didn't say this until I wanted a refund or similar product. (This is copied from their website.) This warranty is void if: product damage is accidental or deliberate or caused by rain, wind or other forces of nature. but...(also copied from their website) Caravan® Instant Canopies are manufactured to provide instant protection from the elements. They stand securely on dirt, grass or pavement, but to avoid a sudden wind, it is best that they are staked or weighted down. Though they can withstand the elements, please be reminded that Caravan® Canopies are not meant to be a permanent structure, so they should not be left unattended for lengthy periods of time. ... show more

    • Worth the price but needs help to be hardy

It is a good pop up. It raises easily enough with 2 people - 4 is best and locks securely. The legs adjust easily and lock securely. The metal parts are nicely finished. A good deal for the price. The small aluminum stakes are useless and simply a token. So for a few bucks you can get landscaping spikes and they fit the holes in the feet of the legs nicely. Also, the fabric wears agains't the metal parts very quickly and begin to leak (this happened to us on it's first use). The velcro strips that attach the cover to the frame ripped out during the first wind. The two rows of stitching used to attach the velcro were short and very close together. I glued them back in place with fabric glue and stitched around the edges of the patch and they are holding better now. The carrying case is great, the wheels are a big help as the package is rather heavy and the large pocket on the outside holds the landscape spines and ropes with ease. ... show more
