I gave this 4 stars due to the defects in the wood that were covered up with wood putty. Also the lamp is not straight. The base is a little crooked and this can not be adjusted. You can adjust the lamp shade to some degree to offset this. One of the light bulb socket arms was bent down so you could see the light bulb hanging down once I sat next to the lamp. My husband was able to fix this so the bulb is no longer visible. The colors are very nice and we do like the lamp inspite of the flaws. We feel it is overpriced. ... show more

I've bought seven of these Mission-style lamps so far (including this one) and they’re all beautiful. They are obviously made by the same factory (for different brands). For example, this Chloe table lamp uses the exact same wood and glass as similar style Capulina lamps. Some reviewers think the shades are made of plastic, but they are definitely glass. They just sound like plastic when you tap on them. That's why newer Chloe lamps in this same style now come with a small piece of the stained glass and a note that reads "Sample Stained Glass: Why does it look and sound like plastic? The stained glass pieces are wrapped with copper foil then soldered together with the soldering iron. Copper foil and soldering will deaden the sound making it sound like plastic. Soldering is done at an ideal temperature of around 300 degrees. At 300 degrees the plastic will melt. Feel free to try to melt this glass sample." The newer Chloe lamps also include cleaning instructions for the glass: "Please us a lemon oil-based furniture polish on a soft cloth, then wipe art glass gently. DO NOT USE AMMONIA." The wood base and trim on the stain glass has a very rich patina. Assembly directions were not 100% clear on washer placement. Overall, nice lamps and would purchase again
