I was surprised that I really enjoyed this sample set. I'm not really into light roast and two of the packs were light roast so I left them for a while. I finally got a chance to try them and they were delicious! I'm not huge on tasting notes but it wasn't just watered down or bitter coffee, it tasted refined. I tend to drink my coffee with milk but with these roasts I found it was easy to drink black. I love the postcards and it's something you can send as a gift to a coffee lover or even individually share if you'd like. The box and presentation of everything here is fantastic. I am waiting to try the medium an dark roasts which I normally prefer. So far, very good! ... show more

I LOVE coffee and am ALWAYS on board to try new brands, flavors, types and ways of having it! This boxed set of 4 types of coffees from different places is not only a "taste test" but also has informative and interesting learning opportunities. Included in the sampler set, there are 4 postcards detailing information about the farms the coffees come from and describing the coffees themselves, including the flavor profiles of each, and the roasting level of each one from light to bold. I found that after each bag of beans is ground, there's enough for 1-2 pots of coffee of 10-12 cups each. I've tasted two so far and found them to be very flavorful without any bitterness at all. Even the light/mild roast had a bold, full flavor. The only reason I gave it 4/5 stars was the price. Being a little more than I usually spend for "every day coffee", it was definitely a special treat. The uniqueness of this sample set would make a great gift for a coffee-loving friend. ... show more

This is a nice sampler set and would make a great gift. I love the colorful design (especially the birds!) and info cards. I've enjoyed the two coffees I tried. The whole beans were beautiful and the resulting brews smooth and flavorful (though I never get all the flavors from the tasting notes!) So far I've tried one of the light roasts and the medium roast from this set. I ordered the whole bean set as I have a burr grinder but I do have to go through the beans completely before switching roasts so if you're looking to try all of then and have fun comparing, preground might be easier depending on your setup / consumption speed. The set comes in a nice presentable box. Each roast is in a 4oz package with nice graphics / presentation. There are two cards for each roast that give info, suggestions on how best to brew and other info. For the light roast I tried pour over, drip and concentrated/long steep drip. Low to no bitterness, flavors were mostly bright without a lot of complexity until I did the concentrated brew. It did taste more complex when the coffee cooled, probably best as a cold brewing. The medium roast I just used in a drip coffee maker. It's clean, no bitterness and again not a ton of flavor fresh brewed. So far the set has been good but it hasn't been amazing for my palate. I do like that there's little to no bitterness but I wouldn't mind more intensity in the flavors. I can't fault the coffee, it's good. The value might be difficult for some to swallow though as it was north of 30 for a lb when I ordered it. I'd be more likely to pick up a local roast for half the price but for a coffee enthusiast it might be a nice gift for a special occasion. ... show more

I love coffee. Dunkin' grounds, Cafe Bustelo, the local roasters, fancy blends, I loke ALL of it. But this is BY FAR the BEST coffee I have EVER HAD! The sampler was wonderful for tasting the different varieties. And the varieties do have their differences. a light roast, a dark roast, a nice medium. But every on his PERFECTLY DONE! The light roast, is light but flavorful, the dark is strong and a bit more bitter, but NOT burned bean water. The medium roast, is rich and flavorful and doesn't fall into flavorless brown water territory. These are EXCELLENT! I loved getting to taste all the varieties and read about where they come from and how they are grown from the info cards in the box. About the box, WOW! Gift quality. The outer box is sturdy, inside the coffee packaging and design is beautiful. The envelope with the coffee info cards is thick and smooth and beautiful. The info cards and well laid out, with gorgeous artwork. I would give this as a gift to a coffee lover in a heartbeat. I will also buy more of this coffee when I finish with what I have. Hard part is picking a favorite variety, they are all so wonderful! ... show more

Worth the price? 3.5/5 Would I buy again? 3.5/5 I am a big fan of trying new coffees. Samplers can be great because you get to try a few different things. I saw this coffee and wanted to try it out. This pack comes with 4 different areas and different roast types. So far, these have been very good. No bitterness so far - flavor has been very good. I wish there were more beans, but these are samples so it is what it is. I will say that the bags too are very unique - they have different artwork based on different birds which I found cool.
