  • Great lens
Only issue is that it arrived with the lens cap loose against the glass. No scratches or anything thankfully, but I'm not sure how it could've come off unless I got a returned product (no tape on the box flap either, but idk if they come with that at all) So as always, inspect your items well on delivery, especially at this price point As for the quality, it's really top tier. The image stabilization works well (I turned it off and didn't realize just how shaky I am without it), the auto focus works quickly and quietly, the zoom looks nice at both ends and has no warping (as far as I can tell anyways). It is a really heavy lens, my weak tripod is getting an early upgrade because of it, but overall it has been worth the money for me. ... show more

  • Doesn’t leave my camera body… EVER
I’m obsessed with this lens. It’s my baby after my babies. It doesn’t leave my lens and I never shoot a wedding or session with any other lens. It’s a bit heavy and weighs on my wrist as long wedding days progress, but is sharp, durable and my favorite purchase for my business.

  • Great lens! Just be aware of how the stabilization works for video.
This is a great lens! The pictures are very sharp, focus is accurate and fast with this lens on the EOS R. With the firmware update, the eye detect is a dream to use. The only two big drawbacks are the price and the size. I shoot video so the size and weight are actually a benefit for me, and the price is high but it is a high quality lens. My only other complaint is how image stabilization works for video. The electronic stabilization in the body can cause the frame to move trying to track a person in frame even when the camera is still, causing a very odd, unnatural look to the footage (I am talking about with the normal stabilization, not the enhanced). For some reason, with digital stabilization off and just using lens IS, it still does the same thing. I usually only have this issue when shooting a close up of a person that is mostly filling the frame, but it is something to keep in mind. This should be an amazing feature for photographers because it will stabilize not just your camera but help even with a moving subject. For video I find I sadly need to turn off IS sometimes because I can get a better looking shot handheld without getting the weird camera movements that the IS can cause. I am a hybrid shooter so I love it for photos. The focus is smooth and silent for video which is great. The F2.8 aperture gives a good amount of light and at the 70mm end of your zoom you can get some nice bokeh too. Overall I definitely highly recommend the lens and the stabilization issue is probably a software related issue in how they've implemented it to get the 5 stops and is something they could address with a setting added in firmware in the future. As long as you are aware of it, is something you can probably work around. ... show more

  • My new Go-To lens
I wanted this Canon RF 24-70 f2.8 lens for a long time and finally bit the bullet when lens was discounted for 2023 Cyber Monday. While the cost of the lens was still a bit high ($1,999.00 USD), it was still less than the sale price on Canon's website at the time, which was $2,399.00. This lens is perfect for me for my landscape and portrait photography and I do not need to carry multiple lenses with me to photo shoots. I do have the Canon RF Macro 85mm f2.0 that I use for nature and portraits, but auto focus is slower than the auto focus feature on the 24-70. While this lens is not as fast as my RF Macro 85mm 2.0, at its widest aperture, 2.8, I noticed a fairly decent bokeh. Of course, I could have purchased the more expensive Canon RF 28-70 f2.0, but the cost of that lens was out of my budget. I like the Lock feature on this lens which prevents lens from opening when carrying camera. Also, I am glad that a lens hood is included with the lens; however, the large lens diameter (82 mm) makes it a bit expensive to purchase certain filters for shooting in black and white. BTW, a nice lens pouch is included with lens. I love that I can zoom from 24-70 and every focal length in between. Certainly, at 24mm focal length, I am able to capture group shots of individuals without stepping too far back as when I use my 50mm lens. Also, if need be, I can still shoot at the 50mm focal length for portraits or head shots. The downsize to this lens is that it is a bit weighty, much more than either my RF 50mm 1.8 or the aforementioned RF 85mm 2.0, but the RF 28-70mm f2.0 is heavier than the RF 24-70 lens, which does make a difference when out all day on photoshoots. All things considered, I really love this lens and, despite its weight, will be using this lens exclusively. ... show more
