  • Works just as I expected. Beautiful prints for a 4 color
The media could not be loaded. I didn't have any paper to set it up with so I use craft paper (easel paper) to align the head. You can't align the machine without roll paper. This picture was printed on my first print using the same craft paper. Seems like it'll put out good quality posters. Will probably update this over time. Ink is pretty expensive even as a tank printer you're looking at $260 to fill all the tanks every time if you fill all 4. Paper options arent the best and Canon is always out of stock, if you want premium paper for posters. most good paper is "3 core. Also the printer cant exceed 4.3 inch diameter rolls a 5 inch roll will not fit this printer *Update. I now am running Canon paper and it prints beautiful. I would buy this again. Make sure you are changing your resolution and dpi accordingly. Large format it is important to have the proper settings or your prints will be pixelated 600 dpi 14440x21600 on a 24x36 600dpi x 24" = 14400 600dpi x 36" =21600 Use this formula based on you print size ... show more

  • Jams constantly and takes forever to load and boot up.
When it prints it's nice and convenient. But be prepared with your crochet needles while you wait for it to turn on or load paper. It's S*L*O*W. And I hope you like paper jams. Apparently the 20 refers to the number of times per job this printer will jam. It takes hours to print a set of blue prints because when it jams you spend 20 minutes trying to extricate the paper and then another 30 minutes to get the paper loaded. The root issue with jams is a bad paper path design. The bigger printers have a fan inside that pulls the paper flat on the print-bed. This one does not, so you just have to hope your paper will lay flat. Checking Canon's documentation it reveals that the printer needs a very narrow humidity range to operate.... so if you are not working in a clean room you are probably in trouble. I have a spray foam insulated home with 24/7 de-humidification to keep the humidity levels in check when the AC doesn't run enough. Can't imagine trying to use this in a typical office or normal house. ... show more

  • Good large format printer
I was hesitant to order this printer due to some mixed reviews but based on my knowledge of other Canon products (cameras, lenses and smaller printers) I decided to give it a try. While it was a tad difficult to set up and get going, it has so far (week or two) been a decent large format printer. For some reason it would not print near the end of the roll, but left a decent amount of paper on the roll. However, this could be a user error since we are new to the printer, otherwise it has done a good job so far. We have only printed line drawing up to this point, no photos, but those print nicely and we like the bottle ink refill system. I was worried that might be messy but it wasnt at all. ... show more

  • Constant Jams, Clueless support
I've had this printer since January. When trying to insert roll paper, I more times than not get a paper jam message. There is absolutely no paper jam. I had another issue with the top feed. Called customer support. The man either had too much coffee or too much...well, anyways, too much of something. He was no help whatsoever. This printer is of good quality but buyer beware. It will cause you many headaches and lost production time. ... show more

  • Great entry plotter
I really like my Canon TC-20. It gives me good clean prints and isn't too slow. The ink can be a little expensive, but it lasts pretty well. I've done several dozen sticker and poster runs on it now, and it is just starting to get low on the black starter inks. The attached picture is a draft poster on low quality paper to do a sizing mock-up and still turned out really well. It looks absolutely beautiful on high-quality paper. As a person who does a ton of stickers and more than a few posters, I'm glad I went this route. Being able to do roll paper has made my life must easier (and saved me a little money). Can recommend for a starter-level plotter for someone just starting their large print journey. I will continue to use this guy for a long time, even after I upgrade to a more commercial-grade printer. ... show more

  • Prints posters great, photos not good at all. Paper loading EXTREMELY frustrating takes 45 minutes.
The original ink runs out very fast since a bunch is used to prime the printer. I printed only about 8 posters and the ink was running out. Posters look great where you don't notice details and exact colors. Photos are way too dark and the detail isn't very good. It's fun to be able to print things so big. Ink is EXPENSIVE especially if you get the Canon ink at $56 per bottle (it uses 4 bottles total). I had trouble getting Microsoft WORD to print 24" wide documents. I used Libre Office Writer instead. Most any software you use gets confused because they don't seem to like roll paper. EDIT: Takes 45 minutes to load the paper. It's SUPER PICKY. The #$%^& paper is in there, PRINT MY POSTER. Don't buy this piece of junk you'll regret it just as much as I do. JUNK. ... show more
